Its a tough call to decide what to do.
In my experience, if Ты don't hear something first hand it can be easy to be misled by wrong information.
Talk to your ex, maybe casually bring up an idea of getting back together или still having some feelings. Take it slow and don't scare him off.
Wait for a time that Ты guys are comfortable together, don't just spring it on him.
The most important time is to think about what Ты say before Ты say it, take it slow and be confident.
