Amber Heard Steps Out in Los Angeles After New Photos of Alleged Abuse Emerge

Amber Heard was out and about in Los Angeles on Tuesday, photographed riding in car while more shocking details about her marriage to Johnny Depp unfold.

Wearing a pair of sunglasses, Heard, 30, sat in the backseat of the vehicle while it drove through the California city.

New photos published in this week\'s PEOPLE cover story show Heard with facial injuries, including an apparently bruised eye and cut lip that allegedly resulted from a December 2015 altercation with Depp that she cited in her court filing.

A rep for Depp has not responded to PEOPLE\'s requests for comment about the photos. The actor\'s divorce attorney Laura Wasser, however, said in court documents that Heard is "attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse."

Heard was granted a temporary restraining order against Depp on May 27. In the documents, she alleged that Depp was abusive through the "entirety" of their four-year relationship and 15-month marriage.

The actress\'s lawyers also released a statement on Tuesday, explaining why she didn\'t tell police about her alleged abuse.

Heard\'s lawyers said that she is "simply a victim of domestic violence" who wanted to "protect her privacy and Johnny\'s career."

"Amber has suffered through years of physical and psychological abuse at the hands of Johnny," the statement continued. "In domestic violence cases, it is not unusual for the perpetrator\'s playbook to include miscasting the victim as the villain."

"Johnny and Amber\'s relationship was always toxic," a source told PEOPLE. "They got in so many fights."

Throughout the ordeal, Depp has continued to tour with his band the Hollywood Vampires, last appearing onstage in Sweden on Monday night.
