Well, on one of Angel's season four episodes, Cordelia describes Angelus as being smart, and wonders what it is about evil that "jacks up the I.Q. points." I disagree with this. Angelus is no smarter than Энджел is. The intelligence, the skill, the thought process, the cleverness, the strength, everything is the same for both of them. The only difference lies in how they use those traits. Since Энджел is not bent on worldwide domination, worldwide destruction, или the devastation of everyone Энджел knew and cared about, he will appear to be еще reserved than Angelus. However, once he decides to kick some ass, it's kicked. K-I-C-K-E-D kicked. Another thing, I think, that leads one to superficially believe that Angelus is tougher than Angel, is because Angelus has no mercy. He has no mercy, he has no remorse. He doesn't brood. He doesn't regret. Those things have weight, and Angelus is light as a feather. But all those things also make him weaker - he's like a feather floating in the air - floaty and useless. I say that because in the end, Энджел always prevails over his inner demon. (Or his Друзья do, in restoring his soul.) I didn't, however, like how they had Энджел fall for Cordelia, because, well, number one, I always loved the Cordelia/Wesley pair, and two, why does the main звезда always have to be in Любовь with someone? By the end of seasons three and four, I was so DONE with relationships on Angel, and was beyond thrilled with the actiony-goodness of season 5. (There was a little bit of Angel/Wolfgirl, Fred/Wesley, and then hints of Wesley/Illyria, but that was so minor. It wasn't shoved down your throat.) The thing I Любовь about Энджел himself, is that he does nothing for himself. It gives complete balance to the demon Angelus within him, who oppositely does everything for only his own pleasure. This is most prodominantly seen in season five, where he sends his wolfgirl friend out of harm's way, he sends his son away, he gets into a tricky, dangerous game of facades with the круг of the Black Thorn knowing he was risking his Друзья never believing him (and thus ruining his plans), and last but certainly not least (no, еще like greatest), he signs away the Shanshu destiny. He does this, perhaps to aid in repenting for past sins as Angelus(but those weren't entirely his fault - he didn't have a soul), but prodominantly he did everything for the good, for the safety, of the innocent. It's so hard to find a truly great hero like that in today's fiction. The Энджел character is one of a kind.
