Endangered Species

Authored by fabgirl12

An endangered species is a plant or animal whose numbers are so small that they are at the risk of extinction. Usually a species becomes "endangered" when they are killed by humans until they may become gone forever if they are killed any longer.

There are so many endangered species that it is hard to keep track of them. Here is a list of most endangered species:

The Endangered Species Act (ESA) protects registered endangered species by removing them from the “take” list, which makes it unlawful for a person to shoot, harm, capture, trap, or attempt any such actions to the species. It was signed on December 28, 1973. The ESA replaces the Endangered Species Conservation Act of 1969. Under the ESA, the government has the right to protect endangered and threatened species. As of October 2009, 1,361 animals were listed as threatened or endangered.
