When Ciel was little his mansion burned down on his birthday and he saw his dad burn down in flames with the mansion....

When Alois was little he was poor and his parents died, him and his little brother Luka always got mocked, then after he got what he wanted his little brother died and he was all alone....

Even having an awful childhood kaneki still suffers and it's really depressing to have a life with hurt and weakness.

Some people think Erza's is a lot worse, but I think Gray's sucked.
First, his family AND city was destroyed by a huge demon: Deliora. Then, he was found almost dead by a woman and a boy named Ur (the female) and Lyon Vastia. They take him in as her apprentice until the demon comes back near the trio.
Gray then sets off to kill the demon even though he isn't nearly as capable to kill him without dying himself. Then Ur and Lyon chase after him. Then, Lyon attempts to do Ice Shell (which freezes your target forever. Ты die because Ты become the ice. Can melt using the spell moon drip) then Ur takes over before Lyon can finish and risks her life for them and becomes the ice. The Далее morning, Gray is crying (don't cry senpai ;-;) and Gray says she died and Lyon runs away saying it was his fault she died.
