If Makos' scarf belonged to his father, then why is it red?

His father being an Earthbender.

Could his father gotten him from his wife (Mako's mother), maybe?

That would be the reason why Mako was a огонь bender and Bolin was a earth bender. But maybe Mako's Mom was a огонь bender and his Dad was a earth bender. I don't know for sure. But I think it's ether one of those :D

well in the the comic Книги which is created by the makers of Аватар and in the beginning of the Показать it says that the republic of nations were created by the огонь nation colonies . In the colinies both огонь and earth benders seem to harmoniously coexist with eachother in the the comic book series the promise part 123 there was this earthbender girl who considered herself as a огонь nation citizen so she wore both green and red
