I was recently inspired by ShaylaBelle07 to write a Список of some of the retold Fairytales that I have read. Unfortunately I can not remember them all for I have been Чтение Фэнтези Книги since about 5th grade and I am 30 now. In the past few years I have become greatly entranced by retold fairytales, I Любовь to read different versions of some of my Избранное stories. And I like to get versions geared for my children as well. Maybe I will put up a Список of retold fairytales children’s version at another time. I hope I can remember them all, if not I will maybe make another Список at a later time. I am going to put up the Authors, Book titles, and a synopsis of the books, as well as my opinion of the ones that remember what I thought of them (I can read up to 3 или 4 Книги a week so it is hard to remember sometimes. Some are just a mix of Fairytales and some actually focus on one well known story.

The Sisters Grimm Series (By Michael Buckley)
There are 7 Книги in the series:

-The Fairy-Tale Detectives
-The Unusual Suspects
-The Problem Child
-Once Upon a Crime
-Magic and Other Misdemeanors
-Tales from the капот, худ
-The Everafter War

link

Here is a summary of the first book:
In Book One of the series, we meet two sisters, Sabrina and Daphne, who have been sent to live with their mysterious grandmother, Relda Grimm. From their first день in Ferryport Landing, the sisters begin to unravel a mystery that reveals a family secret. Sabrina and Daphne learn they are descendants of the Brothers Grimm, whose famous book of fairy tales is actually a history book. Snow White, the Three Little Pigs, the Big Bad Wolf—they're all alive and now neighbors of Granny Relda in this community of Everafters, as magical folks like to be called.

But life is not a fairy tale in Ferryport Landing. Someone has set a giant loose on the town, and it's up to the sisters Grimm to stop the giant and find the Everafter behind its murderous rampage. Is it Mayor Charming, formerly Prince Charming, who may have plans to get his kingdom back? или Jack, the erstwhile giant killer, now working at the Big & Tall store?

My Opinion: The Показать Once Upon A Time slightly reminds me of this series. If Ты do not want a serious read it is nice. There are some dramatic moments and some interesting twists with the fairytale characters, but it does seemed geared toward a еще juvenile crowd. Maybe 9 to 13 yr olds would enjoy them more.

Princess School series (by Jane B. Mason and Sarah Hines Stephens)
The Princess School series by Jane B. Mason and Sarah Hines Stephens features Ella, Snow, Rapunzel, and Rose as they attend princess school. They become Друзья and face challenges with their many adventures. There are 7 Книги in the series:

1: If the Shoe Fits
2: Who's the Fairest?
3: Let Your Hair Down
4: Beauty is a Beast
5: Princess Charming
6: Apple-y Ever After
7: Thorn In Her Side

My Opinion: I found these Книги nice light entertainment and I enjoyed seeing some of the fairytale princesses in school together and being friends. This is another Juvenile series that I could see even 9 или 10 yr olds enjoying.

Mercedes Lackey...I Любовь this Author! She has writes some of my Избранное Фэнтези Книги and she has done some wonderful retold fairytales! I especially Любовь two of her series!

Five Hundred Kingdoms
-The Fairy Godmother
-One Good Knight
-Fortune's Fool
-The Snow Queen
-The Sleeping Beauty
-Beauty and the Werewolf (really, really want to read this)

My Opion: These are not necessarily a fairy tale retold, but a mash up of fairytales in a fairytale world. It is еще adult oriented and a lot еще serious then the first ones I listed. But I Любовь her style!

Elemental Masters

-The огонь Rose (Beauty and the Beast)
-The Serpent's Shadow
-The Gates of Sleep
-Phoenix And Ashes
-Wizard of Лондон
-Reserved for the Cat
-Unnatural Issue (I have not read this one yet but want to)
-Home from the Sea (this one has not came out yet)

My Opinion: Each of these is a different fairytale retold and some are easier picked out then others. I enjoyed them all, but once again they are very serious and very adult oriented.

Alex Flinn: She is a good Автор of a few Fairytales that I have read. One of the Книги was made into a movie by the same name: Beastly. I have not read all her books, but I have read these:
link

-Cloaked
A poor shoe repair guy finds adventure and romance with a beautiful princess, six talking swans, two giants, and one magical cloak.

-A Kiss in Time
Sleeping Beauty wakes up in the twenty-first century and goes to South пляж, пляжный in this humorous fish-out-of-water romance

-Beastly
Ever wonder what it was like for the Beast? Find out in this contemporary retelling.

My Opinion: I have read еще interesting books, but they were okay. They were fine amusement and I read through them pretty quickly. I would say junior high and high schooler's would enjoy them as well.

Once Upon A Time novels:
Once Upon A Time is a series of novels published by Simon Pulse, an imprint of Simon & Schuster[1]. The Once Upon A Time novels are usually new retellings of fairy tales featuring a teenaged heroine. Some of the recurring themes and subjects in the Книги are romance, magic, fantasy, intrigue, finding true love, and good conquering over evil in the end.

-Winter's Child by Cameron Dokey (A Retelling of The Snow Queen, published September 8, 2009)

-Violet Eyes by Debbie Viguié (A Retelling of The Princess and the Pea, published February 23, 2010)

-The World Above by Cameron Dokey (A Retelling of Jack and the Beanstalk and Robin Hood, published June 8, 2010)

My Opinion: I have not read all of these, but have read most of them. They are very interesting and I would say high school age and up would enjoy them. They are all from different authors and done in different styles, so if Ты do not like one it does not mean Ты would not like one of the others.

Gregory Maguire: He wrote the book Wicked about the Witch from the Wizard of OZ, but he has written some retold fairytales too.

Confessions on an Ugly Stepsister (Cinderella retold) my opinion: I found this book very dark and a bit disturbing)

Mirror Mirror (Snow white retold) my opinion: I can not remember what I thought of this book, but I have found all his Книги Dark and disturbing.

Mette Harrison:
link

I have only read this one, but there are other fairytales by this Автор at the site above.

Mira, Mirror

Ты know the mirror from the Snow White fairy tale. или do you? One hundred years later, she is still hanging on that wall. This is her quest to be human again.

My opinion: This was a twisted and kind of sad book. I found myself feeling sorry for the mirror. It was a quick read and a juvenile read.

She has written some very good Фэнтези Книги and some are retold fairytales:

Spindle's End
All the creatures of forest, field and riverbank knew the baby was special. She was the princess Briar-Rose, cursed by the evil fairy Pernicia on her name-day. But Katriona украл, палантин her away to the small village where Kat lives with her aunt, and they raise the princess as if she were their own. No other human, not even Rosie herself, knows her true identity.
But Pernicia is looking for her, and two village Феи and all the Животные in the realm may not be enough to save her.

Rose Daughter
When their father's business fails, three sisters Переместить to a tiny neglected cottage far away from anything they have ever known. Not silly sweethearts' Любовь but the Любовь that makes Ты and keeps Ты whole . . . there aren't many Розы around any еще because they need еще Любовь than people have to give them to make them flower."
And when Beauty takes her father's place at the terrifying Beast's palace she discovers that the Beast's beloved rose garden is dying.

Beauty: A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast
Beauty has never liked her nickname. She is thin and awkward; it is her two sisters who are beautiful. But what she lacks in looks she can perhaps make up for in courage.
When her father comes Главная with the tale of an Зачарованная замок in the forest and the terrible promise he had to make to the Beast who lives there, Beauty declares she must go to the castle, a prisoner of her own free will.

My opinion: I can not remember what I thought of these particular books. But I believe I enjoyed them.

I've been here for over half a год now and I haven’t take then time to make my Избранное princess ranking Список because: one I'm really, really shy (No joke) and two I have a really hard time getting my opinion across with people...so медведь with me one this.

11: Merida
She's joining but I'm putting her down at the bottom because I can and she hasn't joined yet. Come back later to her what I think about her.

10: Ariel
I never liked Ariel…in fact I hate her with a passion. Although there is proof (not strong enough for some of us which is a whole boring song about it) that she wanted to leave...

In the last part Mulan's dream came true! In this part we're going to meet the fourth princess Pocahontas who also has a dream, but a special one.

For the third time Alexandra was back at the room which now only had 7 doors and for the third time she picked the door to the left of the door she previously had opened and took the key on the таблица and opened the door and went in.

Now this was a huge difference from the Назад rooms she had been to. This one was in a forest close to the sea:
-This is what America was like in the 17th century, this is where your fourth princess lives, her name is...

And yes, I’m still on the topic of dubbing. I’m pleased to say that at least “Sleeping Beauty” escaped the policy of redubbing in Germany. “Cinderella” has mostly still the original dub, but for the DVD release some “marketing genius” decided that they had to change the opening scene. Who cares about the back story of Cinderella, let’s explain the audience that “Cinderella” is the American version of “Aschenputtel”. The explanation is not even correct, since the movie is based on the French version of the fairy-tale, which is much different from the German one. And...

Well, this Статья is VERY overdue by now...I've written my Избранное princess Статья when I first joined, but not this one. So yes, time to fix that once and for all! I actually like all of the princes listed here, and they were very hard to rank. Anyway, enjoy reading! Thank you, CuteDiana, for making the pictures!

10. Charming

Okay, okay. I know this is a typical placement for him, but I just feel neutral about him. I can't use the excuse for lack of screen time, because, well...you'll see why later. I also can't say he lacks a personality, because he does have a personality. When he...

I'm not just a princess Ты know. That's only half of who I am!
I'm not just a princess you know. That's only half of who I am!
Alright, this Статья is going to be really bad and thrown together, but I need to write it while I still have the words. I get really tired of people hating on any princess, but this is the complaint that gets on my nerves the most: жасмин has everything and still wants more! Doesn't she get how lucky she is?

I'm hoping this Статья will get Jasmine's motives across to you, because I'm really going through the same thing. I have a nice house, my parents both have jobs and are happily married, I got a scholarship to the high school of my dreams, I go to Дисней World once a year, and my brother...
