No wonder these she, Ariel, and Merida are in the lead.
I think Ariel would be very happy leading humans and would want to learn more about her people because of her curiosity about humans. Merida doesn't actually mind being royalty, she just wants to be free to lead her own life- and it would be kind of difficult for someone to tell the queen what and what not to do, especially if she ended up with Young McGawffin- he didn't seem very intimidating.
Jasmine, on the other hand, hates being a princess. She is irresponsible and rejects her duty. Also, after her time in the village, she never does anything about the poverty of the people- and seeing as she had never been outside the palace before, you couldn't really say "she just knew that and took it as a part of life," and even then, she should care more about her people. The only peasant she cared about were the little girl and Aladdin. So you either have to be young and innocent or hot.

^ She hated being a princess because she never got to make her own decisions and wanted freedom. She cares about Rajah and her father as well (she defends him when Jafar and Iago treat him like a marionette)

And I am positive that Ariel would not be any better. I am not saying Jasmine is responsible, but Ariel clearly has had an issue with time management and lacked any responsible duties as a princess. She knows how royalty works and just because she is interested in humans does not mean that she will learn to become a better ruler. She can not multitask and think with her mind instead or her heart. She would not relate well with her people as well, since she has never been a human and never lived on land beforehand. Plus, would you rally think she would want to sit in a royal chair for hours when she could be dancing in the kingdom, riding horses and going on boat rides?

ariel wasnt a bad queen as we see in the sequel. i cant choose between merida and jasmine... both care more about themselves then their people and duties, which makes a crappy ruler for sure.
does jasmine even know her people exist?

I don't think she would be bad, but I can see her making mistakes at first. Then learning from them, of course.

Merida doesn't even wanna be a Princess, much less a Queen.

As much as I love her, I'll be the first to admit Ariel can be irresponsible. She loves adventure too much, she'll be constantly running off and exploring.

She'd desert her kingdom and her duties at the first sight of men on the horizon.

Or Jasmine, but Jasmine at least shows some ruler qualities when she first confronts Jafar....

I find Snow has a soft heart. She won't be able to make hard decisions.

Actually Jasmine would be one of the best ruler out of these, she knows what means duty and what means to be a princess. She said this line in the TV series "I was raised a princess Aladdin and a princess knows, the needs of the people outweighs her own." Her best quote in my opinion. She really cared about those people happiness and life (thought those people were completely strangers not even her people). That's why I love the series, you can really know her true personality. Oh and once she sacrificed her life for a little boy. She saved her subject from the death. And I still can continue ...

tiffany I only base my judgements in those matters on the Original movie, not on the cheapquels or TV series. And in the original movie, Jasmine didn't really show a lot of ruler qualities.
And honestly, you vote for Rapunzel? We know that she is a good ruler, after all, she is the only princess who gets to rule at the end of her movie and it's confirmed that she was a good one.

Way too irresponsible to rule anybody well in my opinion.
