Meh....she does kinda sorta get with a prince in the end. But kinda not because Hercules becomes mortal which was kind of like abdicating the throne. Plus she doesn't really have the Disney Princess Virtues either.
I agree that Megara shouldn't be an official Disney Princess.
Even though she was actually born Princess of Thebes (from the actual mythology disney Hercules is loosley based on). And also Zeus I always reffered to as King of the Gods, making Hercules Prince of the Gods.
But even though Megara is actually a Princess from her story I don't think she follows the Disney Princess mythology, she isnt a very recognisable character in comparison to the official Disney Princesses.
But Megara is still one of my favorite Disney Heroines of all time :D
Since she gets with the prince of the Gods I would say she is a technical princess. She is more of a human character, in that she actually has FLAWS, so she is a good model.
First of all, a princess is a princess...I don't think it should matter how much a character has in common with the earlier ones or what you perceive as the "typical princess." Now, I said yes only because I'd support adding her to the set (I mean, if Mulan can be in there then Meg certainly can.) However, I'm not outraged that she isn't included, simply because the 'Prince of the Gods' (Zeus IS the King of the gods on
Mt. Olympus) sacrificed his god status before he went off to live with her on earth. Therefore...he's now a regular dude, yes? Thus not officially making her a princess...so...yeah.
Neh. Even though she was a princess in mythology. I don't think she's really a good role model. And Hercules stayed as a mortal to be with her so she doesn't end up as a goddess.
even though she might be a princess in mythologie, does not mean she is in the disney universe. if we would judge the hercules characters after their characters in mythologie - zeus would fuck every woman he sees, hera would be a jealous bitch, hades would be married and one of the few gods to be loyal to his wife and not a bad person, hercules would KILL meg.........
what im saying is - mythologie is mythologie and disney is disney.
and in the disney universe, herc is a halfgod, not a prince, he becomes a human in the end and decides to life a NORMAL hero life on earth, therefor giving up his "status" of "prince" of the olymp. so meg does not marry a "prince" but a hero.
besides that, other disney characters also do not have the same personality or job as in their original story. example hunchback of notre dame - phobleh was a jerk, who only wanted to have sex with esmeralda and could have saved her life, esmeralda is a total naive little girl who dies in the end, quasi is deaf and kills frollo, frollo is a priest and cares very much for quasimodo and also has a brother...
Samvoorhees! Thank you! Meg is definitely a princess! I mean Mulan just ends up with some war guy! Megara ends up with a GOD...and yes, in Greek Mythology she is considered a princess. I know its disney but still, it makes me mad shes not a "real" princess.
1. she was in line with the bad guy (yes, she eventually changed to teh good side, but still)
2. She's not a princess!
3. I just don't see her as princess
