James is just the best!

James earned it. He taught his daughter in the few years he was with her about believing in her dreams and she could do anything.

I love both these dads, but James deserves it more, IMO

I thought hard about it...they are more or less on the same level. But I think Fa Zhou deserves extra credit for not trying to crush Mulan's spirit, even though society would expect him to force her to be a quiet obedient daughter. And even when she fails, the only thing he does is cheering her up.
James on the other hand first accidentally destroys part of Tiana's childhood innocence by making her a non-believer in stars, and then somehow doesn't manage to teach her how important friendship and family truly is. Or if he did, she forgot the lesson at one point. He basically fixates her at a very young age on HIS dream, instead of allowing her to find her own.

Fa Zhou is my favorite DP father, I think he's a really good father, understanding and careful about Mulan and his family.
