glelsey picked Jim Hawkins:
I am very fond of Jim's character development throughout the story. He goes through a lot, and I certainly think he's the type you aren't going to lose interest in during the movie. Although it's not just the development he goes through during the events of the movie that I think makes him a strong, fleshed-out lead, but also his backstory. It is actually part way through the movie that we find out about his father leaving him at a young age, and him now filling that empty void when John Silver becomes the new father figure in his life. I really like how the movie doesn't just start with the explanation of his father's absence, and instead this unravels later on when it appropriate for us to know.

I also feel like Jim is an incredibly realistic character. I expect most of us can either relate to him directly if we have something in common with him, or make a connection in that he may remind us of someone we know in real life. His mannerisms and expressions (in both the way he is animated and the way he is voiced) are things that we find in many real human beings. That's something that I think makes the movie much more enjoyable to watch, and without a doubt makes him a really strong lead for a movie.
