Should I get a dog?

Well my dog who we had for 12 years passed away in July 2009 and I miss her but I keep thinking about her even now so I think a new dog would take my mind off of her. My Birthday is this месяц and I haven't asked for anything yet so should I ask for a dog? I'll buy him/her at a rescue place so I'll be saving a life and I'll pay for it with some of the money that I got for Christmas. My mum doesn't really want another one but I know for a fact that when she buys it she won't regret it (she's always like this)

I could get a cat I suppose but that's not the best answer because I'm allergic to cats.. but I suppose Ты get used to it if one's living in the house and my allergy isnt THAT bad. I have tablets for my allergies anyway.

But I'd much rather have a dog. My mum сказал(-а) that money isn't an issue. I'd walk it everyday and I'll make sure to get one that's not too young so it doesn't chew up the house.

But I'm still not sure if its the best option. What would Ты do? Thanks in advance :)
