From Change.org:

Why this is Important

To appeal to men, Dr Pepper Ten completely revamped their marketing strategy from Diet Dr Pepper. Dr Pepper Ten has calories and sugar unlike its diet counterpart. Instead of the “dainty tan bubbles” on the diet can, Ten will be wrapped in gunmetal grey packaging with silver bullets. And while Diet Dr Pepper's marketing is women-friendly, the ad campaign for Ten goes out of its way to alienate and denigrate women.

For instance, there's a Dr Pepper Ten Facebook page for men only. I had to create a new Facebook page indicating I’m a guy to even view the content. It includes games and Видео aimed at being "manly." There's a “manly shooting gallery” where men have “23 секунды to take out all the girlie stuff” with the directions of, “If it’s girlie shoot it – if it’s manly avoid it.” There’s a gun scope view on a pair of red high heels and then “girlie” items like lipstick, flowers, rainbows and Единороги flash by cowboy hats, hammers and little plastic toy soldiers. I purposely didn’t shoot anything to see how the game ended. I was confronted with a message;...

Dear Feminists, Will Ты Also Be Marching In N***erwalk? Because I Won't.
by Keli Goff

(Published in The Huffington Post)

The only thing еще irritating than people doing absolutely nothing to make the world a better place are those actively trying to make it worse, but coming in a strong third? Those whose well-meaning efforts to make the world better are so misguided that they make things worse by default.

I was reminded of this when I happened upon the SlutWalk protests taking place in New York this past weekend... with my mother. (If you're looking for something super memorable to do with your mom in the Big Apple, Broadway shows have got nothing on watching a bunch of adults parading around in their underwear in broad daylight in the name of allegedly making a serious political statement.)

Now before the SlutWalk army gets their undergarments in a twist and adds me to their enemies list, let me state for the record that we are on the same side when it comes to the issues. But when it comes to execution in addressing сказал(-а) issues? Not so much.

1. MYTH: Legalizing prostitution gets rid of its criminal elements - pimps and traffickers.
FACT: Legalizing prostitution benefits pimps and traffickers. It also benefits johns.

2. MYTH: Men need sex therefore prostitution must exist. Prostitution is a natural form of human sexuality
FACT: The sex of prostitution is not “sex” for women in it. Most men who use women in prostitution have other sexual partners.

3. MYTH: Prostitution is sexual liberation
FACT: Prostitution is sexual exploitation.

4. MYTH Women choose to enter prostitution. It’s better to choose to make lots of money as a prostitute than to choose to work at a minimum wage job like McDonald’s.
FACT: It is profoundly unjust to declare that prostitution is an acceptable job for some women - those who are mostly poor, mostly women of color, mostly young. Prostitution is an intrinsically abusive institution and women stay poor in prostitution (although lots of cash passes through their hands on the way to pimps, stripclub managers, bartenders, taxi drivers, casino hosts and other predators).

Freedom или Death
By Emmaline Pankhurst

This speech was delivered in Hartford, Connecticut on November 13 1913

I do not come here as an advocate, because whatever position the suffrage movement may occupy in the United States of America, in England it has passed beyond the realm of advocacy and it has entered into the sphere of practical politics. It has become the subject of revolution and civil war, and so tonight I am not here to advocate woman suffrage. American suffragists can do that very well for themselves.

I am here as a soldier who has temporarily left the field of battle in order to explain - it seems strange it should have to be explained - what civil war is like when civil war is waged by women. I am not only here as a soldier temporarily absent from the field at battle; I am here - and that, I think, is the strangest part of my coming - I am here as a person who, according to the law courts of my country, it has been decided, is of no value to the community at all; and I am adjudged because of my life to be a dangerous person, under sentence of penal servitude in a convict prison.

It’s commonly сказал(-а) among feminists that women are naturally less inclined towards conflict and hostility and thus would make better leaders than men. While the premise has an element of truth to it, the nature of earthly politics means that the ability to inflict harm is pretty much how anything would ever get done. I propose that any politically-minded person—male или female—is willing to think practically about moving around the ability to inflict harm just through the inherent nature of government. Law in itself is about using violence to impose order but the lawmakers are so removed from this violence that even people who would say they don’t have the stomach for it can conduct it rationally.

There’s this classic thought experiment called the ‘trolley dilemma’. The idea is that there’s a runaway train that’s going to run over group of people on the track, but Ты have the ability to switch the tracks and have it go a direction where it only kills one person. Do Ты switch it? Most people say yes, even though it feels like a crime for them to consciously affect fate to have a person killed. The секунда version has no switch-track. You’re on a...

“Wherever there is a human being, I see God-given rights inherent in that being, whatever may be the sex или complexion” -- William Lloyd Garrison

"Nothing can be еще absurd than the practice that prevails in our country of men and women not following the same pursuits with all their strengths and with one mind, for thus, the state instead of being whole is reduced to half."
--Plato

"[A] woman should have every honorable motive to exertion which is enjoyed by man, to the full extent of her capacities and endowments. The case is too plain for argument. Nature has дана woman the same powers, and subjected her to the same earth, breathes the same air, subsists on the same food, physical, moral, mental and spiritual. She has, therefore, an equal right with man, in all efforts to obtain and maintain a perfect existence." --Frederick Douglass, 1881

"... [T]he legal subordination of one sex to another — is wrong in itself, and now one of the chief hindrances to human improvement; and that it ought to be replaced by a system of perfect equality, admitting no power and privilege on the one side, nor disability on the other." -- John...

"I’ve been having an argument for days with this guy on IMDb about promiscuous people not asking for rape (on the cape fear page) and he’s like сказал(-а) some pretty ridiculous sh*t…here are some examples:

“Looks like Ты dig into a lot of feminist website to empower yourself.”

“Hence I don’t agree with the whole martial rape. The newest law in Afghanistan that obliges women to give their husbands sex at least 4 times a week. I would say that is a progressive law.”

“Understand this, rape will always exist in human society. It is a горький Фрукты of evolution. I know your emotional mind cant comprehend the fact. But every species which is capable of having sex, rapes.”

“Since false rape accusation occurs there is a lot of gray ares which we cant see! The courts mostly listen to what the woman has to say”

“Western media is full of feminist propograndas sprouted all over it”

Preface:
I have read all Книги and seen the movies.
Most importantly, the fact that it’s Фэнтези doesn’t excuse the themes and messages in the book. Fiction is merely a vehicle humans developed to communicate important lessons, values and philosophies. I am not claiming any of the implications I discuss were intentional on SMeyer’s part. Whether или not the Автор или readers are aware of it, though, the Twilight series communicates dangerous messages about what is acceptable или admirable или desirable.
Also, I highly recommend Arzim’s Rebuttals. It’s long, but fascinating and deeper than the Книги themselves.

I read a lot of stuff online talking about the “tone argument” and how it’s used to silence feminists. The gist of it is that a feminist is angry about something and delivers a criticism of it, and the opposition points to the way the feminist is angry as a means of shutting them down without ever acknowledging the criticism as valid или that the person has a right to be angry. This is a problem, and I have seen it occur in threads, so the anti-tone-argument sentiment has a respectable basis. However, I believe the sentiment is often misused so that it ends up causing the same sort of problem where legitimate criticism is ignored simply because the tone argument is invoked.

First, let me share an incident from my own experience of angry feminists. I used to have a real problem with self-injury, so I spent a lot of time on these online self-injury support groups. Now, support groups, if they’re doing their job right, try to discourage self-injury and often put a lot of focus on maintaining a peaceful environment. Ты want to avoid triggers, which in this context refers to things that put Ты in a state of mind where Ты feel the need to self-injure. There’s...

Julia Stiles as Lumen Pierce on "Dexter"
Something I’ve noticed on TV is a plot sometimes used where there’s a lesser-privileged (i.e. female или black) character Актёрское искусство irrational, and the audience is sympathetic to the more-privileged (i.e. male или white) character who points out all the flaws in the less-privileged character’s rationale, only to have the plot twist where the less-privileged character turns out to have actually been right! The revelation doesn’t lead to еще respect for the less-privileged character, however, because they are still portrayed as irrational. It’s еще like ‘hey, isn’t weird how they turned out to be correct despite being entirely silly?’. While possibly an attempt to be respectful toward less-privileged demographics, it ends up just reinforcing stereotypes about their purportedly irrational mindsets. The female version was on last night’s Декстер episode “Everything is Illumenated” as well as the Остаться в живых season 1 episode “Raised by Another”, and the black version was on the sitcom ‘Til Death episode “Raisinette in the Sun”.

Alright, listen up, men’s rights people. Ты say Ты want to improve the lives of all men, to protect their rights. Well, I have a challenge for you: Can Ты stand up for the male individuals who act feminine?

It’s no secret that men who Показать signs of anything associated with femininity are looked down upon. Effeminate men are made the butt of jokes all the time in the media and in real life. Just tonight I watched дата Night, where the male lead is described as androgynous and hilarity ensues as he is forced to agree with that. еще than jokes, such men and boys are frequently the victims of violence because their femininity is seen as such a horrible offense to manhood. This is misogyny manifesting itself in violence against men. Can Ты denounce this misogyny as wrong?

There are men who wear makeup and dress in clothing considered to be for women, but they are still men and still consider themselves men. Some would say they are confused, but they know darn well what gender roles are and they don’t care. Men’s rights people tend to say things like ‘feminism has emasculated them and made them not want to be men’ in response, but that...

There’s a meme I’ve seen online where feminists say that the word “females” shouldn’t be used because of its dehumanizing connotations. The idea is that “female” relates to the sex of a biological organism, and when one is using that kind of terminology they tend to be discussing nonhuman Животные in a scientific fashion. So, when men talk about “females” when they mean “women”, it comes off as dehumanizing. While I agree to an extent, as I believe some men do use this to purposefully distance themselves from women, I also think this decree that female humans should be referred to as “women” is worryingly ageist because it entirely removes girls from the subject.

Children are disrespected in general society. Basically, adults mostly believe children are idiots and totally incompetent, which is a blanket generalization and ageist stereotype. There is a big difference between ignorance and idiocy, which many adults fail to understand. Kids are pressured to grow up because adults are дана higher respect, and when they do grow up, they turn around and perpetuate the same disrespect to their kids without a секунда thought.
