Feminism doesn't sparkle.

That really pissed me off, but in a good way. I was agreeing with it the entire time. That is what Twilight teaches girls and, according to Meyer, women are worthless with out men. She just has it as an underlying factor so that the people who read it (mindless teenage girls) will get the message but not know that it is subliminal mind control. Congratulations,Meyer. A sparkling piece of shit is still a piece of shit.

This was an amazing article. I couldn't have said it better. That is what I've been trying to say! Twilight is messed up, and completely anti-feminist. Thank you for writing this, whoever wrote it! THANK YOU :D

All the way through this article I was mentally screaming "HELL YEAH!" I completely agree. I want EVERY SINGLE PERSON on this planet to read this, the ones who have heard of Twilight, anyway. Sadly I think the obsessive twilight fangirls will just continue being blatantly ignorant until a bigger, better, newer, shinier fandom comes up. Ah well.

hmmm
While I agree with the article on some things and some things I think are total bull. Its a book. A fictional novel about vampires. Not a girls guide on how to be the perfect house wife. I think that people put way too much thought into it. Reading theses books is for entertainment. No one is going to say "I need to be exactly like this". I know that there are small minded people out there who will believe anything they hear. But if thats the case then they have more problems then reading Twilight and what they will take from it.

I agree that Twilight sends the wrong messages, but I still enjoyed reading the books serveral times, and speaking as a Twilight obsessed teenage girl I can say that it hasnt influenced me to think that 'men are better than women' or whatever. =]

This is great. I just hope that the people who most need to see it (i.e. the fans) will be willing to give it a go.

Look, I read Twilight. The whole time I was either thinking...

a) Bella, why are you such an idiot?
b) Bella, stand up for yourself
c) Bella, why can't you be more like Hermione?

I knew Bella wasn't who I wanted to be. I could realise it. I knew some couldn't, but the girls with major 24/7 working bbrains, which I pride myself to be, can. I agree, for the girls who cant see the anti-feminism, Twilight shouldn't be a part of them. For those of us who can,
a) we will probably not enjoy it
b) If we do, we're smart enough to not use Twilight as a guide

But it sparks the idea of what a boyfriend should be like, which makes some gils okay with being treatedlike you-know-what. Like it or not, when you're a fan, you tend dig yourself in the book and breathe in its morales. Some books its okay, some...
