Lily's POV
My сердце is fluttering in my chest. Just relax, I think to myself. You can do this. But I can feel my brothers' eyes on me, and Rose's too. Even her Друзья are gawking. I wonder what my mother would make out of all of this: Am I doing the right thing? But somehow, I think she would agree with me. I'm trying to get Hugo to come back to us, so he can be a Weasley again. I need for this to work.
I get to the Slytherin table, and approach Hugo and his friends. It takes all of my effort to smile. ''Hi, Hugo..'' But my tone comes out wrong. I sound nervous. But he doesn't seem to pick it up. ''Hi, Lily.. what are Ты doing here?''
This is the moment that will make me или break me. ''I want to Присоединиться your..friends in your efforts.'' I blurt. ''You're right: We need power.'' I even put emphasis on the word, like he did. In reality, it probably only took Hugo a couple секунды to answer, but to me it felt like an eternity. He gives a look at Abby and Blake. They nod. He turns to me, and says, ''Take a seat.'' With a smile.
I sit down at the Slytherin table.

Rose's POV
''She actually did it,'' James сказал(-а) in amazement. He obviously was taken by surprise: He was expecting her to walk away crying. But I knew Lily could do it: She has inner strength. We keep looking over our shoulders, just watching Lily smile and laugh at Hugo's jokes. She seems like a whole different person.
But she seems happier than she ever was sitting with us. Aimee notices that too, I can tell, but she doesn't say a word. For once she's keeping her mouth shut.
Suddenly, the mood at their таблица changes. Abby's face darkens, whereas Blake's lights up. Hugo seems expressionless, and of course Lily has a smart-alec grin. I know now why Louis picked her over all of us: Not only is she closer to Hugo than us, but she can definitely get the job done. Finally, I see Abby crack a smile, and Blake's eyes Подтвердить my suspicions.
Lily is going to get the information we need.

Defense Against the Dark Arts, 11:00
Professor Hopkirk is unusually pleasant today. She's smiling, and it actually looks like a smile. She tells us that there's no homework, and that we can talk for the last fifteen минуты of class. This surprises all of us: Is she sick today или something? But we take advantage of it, and I turn to Aimee.
''Lily seemed different this morning,'' I note.
''I know,'' She says. ''I didn't want to say anything, ruin James' mood.''
''But it scares me. Like, what if she gets into their ideas and actually sides with them?''
''Rosie. Ты really think that'll happen?''
''No,'' I admit. ''I'm just nervous about it all.''
''I am too.''
The колокол, колокольчик, белл rings, and we gather our books.
It's time for lunch.

Aimee and I take a сиденье, место, сиденья with Al, James, and Lizzie. Our conversation goes straight to Lily.
''She looks fine, though,'' Lizzie whispers. It's true. She looks just the way Hugo does: Happy, smiling. As if it's a regular day. But James doesn't look convinced at all.
''How can Ты not see it? She's obviously uncomfortable.'' He's glaring at the Slytherin таблица now, pissed.
''Of course she is!'' Albus exclaims. It's the first thing he's сказал(-а) this period. ''She's sitting with Slytherins, of course she's uncomfortable! Just hope that Hugo doesn't notice.''
''He won't,'' I say. ''He used to be sensitive to people's feelings, but now I think he's a rock.''
Everyone looks down, afraid to say to my face that they agree. That bothers me: Why should people think one simple thing can make me just break down in tears? I won't. I'm strong. Hugo can think that I'm weak, but really, I'm not.
I'm stronger than I ever was before.

It's the last period of the day, and I'm excited. There's no Family Meeting today, so I'm free to do whatever I please. And I'll surely have time for Scorpius. Albus notices my dreamy mood, and comments.
''Whoa. What's up with you?''
I look taken aback. ''What? Can't I be happy?''
''No, of course Ты can! But..'' He trails off. ''Never mind.''
''No, continue.'' I give him a look, probably еще than a look. I might as well have Холодное сердце him in ice.
''It's just that everyone thought Ты were upset, and here Ты are all giddy! It's mental.''
''I'll have Ты know, Albus Severus Potter, that I am fine. Hugo doesn't need me, and I don't need him. He's made it perfectly clear that he doesn't want me as a sister anymore, and I've come to terms with that.''
He looks at me skeptically. ''You sure?''
''Positive,'' I say smartly. ''Besides, this will all work out soon.''
He mumbles something, and at first I don't hear. But when I'm sitting at dinner, I realize what he сказал(-а) was:
''I doubt it.''

8:00, In the Library
Scorpius is late. I know this because as I look at the clock for the millionth time, it reads 8:15. He's never been late. It worries me. Has he finished and not even bothered to come, или tell me? So much for a friend.
But I decide to wait just a little longer, until 8:30. If he's not here by then, I'll leave. After two минуты of just daydreaming, I decide to check my work. As I'm Чтение over my third paragraph, he finally arrives, and in the nick of time. It's 8:29.
''Sorry I'm late,'' He says. ''I needed to ask Professor Hopkirk for help with something.''
''It's fine,'' I say. He sits down and looks at me with an expression clearly Чтение that he needs to talk to someone, anyone.
''I'm here for you,'' I say. ''You can talk to me.''
''It's just..'' He stops. ''It's just that sometimes I can't even believe some of the crap that goes on here.''
You have no idea. ''I know, sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming.''
''And how everyone makes Slytherins out to be villains disgusts me. We're not all bad..'' He truly looks pitiful, and I wilt. There was a time when I acted just like that.
''I know, but what matters is that most people know that's not right,'' I say.
''I suppose. I just.. I can't even deal with this one rumor I heard.''
Being the girl I am, I need to hear it. ''What is it?'' I ask.
''Some idiots are remaking horcruxes,'' He spats. ''Two Gryffindors and two Slytherins.''
I freeze. Does everyone know? ''That's..'' I can't even finish my sentence.
''I know!'' He rambles. ''To think, of all the unlikely pairs..''
''I got to go,'' I say, and start to pack up. But before I go, I need an answer to something:
''Just one question,'' I say quickly. ''How many people know about this?''
He looks up. ''Even the professors are talking about it.''
I mumble a goodbye, and then dash out of the library. Somehow, I know, now, that it'll all travel back to Hugo. That everyone will know about Hugo, Blake, Abby - Lily! She didn't even do anything wrong, she's just on our side.. and everyone is going to turn her into a villain. This is all wrong, this has to be a joke.
I never thought so much drama could happen in so little time. How long have we been in Hogwarts? Three weeks? I don't even know. All I know that this has to stop, it all has to stop.
I finally burst into the Gryffindor Common Room, and I keep running until I reach the Girls' Dormitory. I flop down onto my постель, кровати and sigh.
As if the Weasley family wasn't noticed enough already.

I'm with Hugo, Abby, and Blake. We're meeting in the Library. They haven't totally recruited me yet, but I know they will soon. It's all just a matter of time. I sit there, and listen to Blake's instructions.
''Now, we're almost done with all of this..'' He whispers. ''We just need one еще thing.''
''What?'' Abby's eyes are filled with excitement. ''What do we need?''
''A horcrux from Lily.''
