Neville yelled at Voldemort, stood up to a group of Death Eaters (three times), fought back against Umbridge. I think that's a lot braver than saving your girlfriend from a non-threatening group of mer-people.
How can you even compare the two? Completely different characters. Cedric entered and won the triwizard tournament - and you should not forget that he did not know that mer-people were non-threatening, that was the whole point of the probe. Neville fought against Voldemort and rebelled - that's another kind of braveness. We never saw the two of them in the same situation that is we don't really have the base to compare which of them is braver.
Dumbledore specifically stated that they had taken every measure to make sure that the tournament was as safe as possible. Allowing students (students not even in the tournament, no less) to be injured or killed by mer-people because a contestant didn't get to them in time, or couldn't un-tether them kind of goes against the whole "safe" thing.
Well... Diggory did stand and attempt to fight although he didn't have a chance. If the roles were reversed and if Neville had been in that graveyard instead, he would have died. Both are brave.
Neville, absolutely Neville!!! He becomes braver and stronger over the years, fights with Harry in the ministry at the end of OOTP, organizes the resistance aginst the Carrows and Snape in DH and finally kills Nagini!! He really develloped....
First off all, this isn't a fair poll. Neville got to prove himself, where as Cedric never, he died too young.
Cedric has alway been brave, this is clearly stated in the books.
Where as Neville only began to be brave. Yes, he could stand up to his friends, but with Draco and his gang, he was completely hopeless.
Only in the 7th book do we see Neville truly become brave.
Plus, you're all so freakin biased in this poll. Look at me, Neville is without a doubt my favorite HP character, but I'm not going to put him on a pedastol like some of you lot.
