Hak, there are some fans who (and I don't subscribe to this view) - despite the ending - don't believe that Ryan got the job. They think that the person David Wallace was talking to was not Ryan and that Ryan was not talking to David Wallace. That's just fwiw.

Personally it seemed pretty obvious that Ryan got the job. But hey, who am I to deny some fans a more "conspiracy theory" bent to the show?

Ryan did get the job. Go look back on the episode recap section at NBC.com and the last photo showing Pam smiling after Jim asks her out states that Ryan got the job. Very last sentence. "Meanwhile, it was Ryan who really got the job at Corporate." Here's a link too if you do not believe me. Sheesh kids. This show is The Office, a mock representation of a real working office and people with *real* lives. It's not Lost filled with twists and turns.

Jim's not going anywhere. Ryan got the corporate job. Greg Daniels himself has said so. Sheesh, how is it that people are still holding onto that conspiracy theory? At first, I was willing to concede that there was a slight possibility that the writers were messing with us but, by now, it's like what more evidence do people need? I bet next season, there gonna show Ryan at New York talking about having gotten the job and there will still be people trying to argue that it was Karen.

Jim is not the kind of jerk who would ask a girl out, a girl he knows likes him, just to tell her that he's leaving. Ryan would do that...not Jim. The note from Pam in his sales reports was the reminder Jim needed that he can't possibly be happy without giving him and Pam a chance. He came back because he wants a shot at dating Pam, now that they are both on the same wavelength. Jim still loves Pam and wants to be with her. I agree with many of the above comments about it's not a conspiracy theory. Ryan got the job and Jim got Pam.

Yes Chel, i completely agree, the office is not 24 or Greys anatomy, we are dealing with a spin on reality. Jim never stopped loving Pam and Pam has always loved Jim. Its about time they give it a go. And Pam leaving that note hit a light bulb in Jims head saying he couldn't do it, he loves Scranton and Pam to much to leave again.
