I found Sally Hawkins rather overwrought and her emotions too blatant. In fact the whole movie lacked the subtlety that I so enjoyed in the Amanda Root version. Amanda played the character as I imagined her in my mind- very quiet and demure. Sally's version was . . . well, twitchy. I swear she was just constantly twitching and making weird noises. The kiss scene? She looked like a fish gawping for air. I have to say it was the most unromantic movie kiss I've ever seen.

I LOVED Sally as Anne Elliot. She was just so AWSOME!! Amanda Root doesn't hold a candle to her. In the looks department, acting skills...EVERYTHING!!!
