kittyluv57 The House (Two person horror/mystery rp)

GodOfTheWired posted on Jul 21, 2015 at 02:35AM
It began months ago. Very very slowly, random people from all over the world have been disappearing into midair. People have said they simply walk through a door and are never seen again. Despite investigating, the police never find any traces. As of now these disappearances have been so far apart and randomized that no one has considered there could be a bigger story. However, in the town you currently find yourself in, supernatural rumors have been spreading.

Our two main characters seem to live on opposite side of town, and neither think anything of the silly gossip spreading around. However, when both feel the sudden compelling urge to step through the nearest door, they discover there's far more to said gossip then they originally realized.

(Fantastic~ Time to dig through my old character bios and do some editing!)

((So, there is obviously plenty of planning we'll need to do to bring together the concept of the house, but for now, here are the characters I know we'll need eventually to make it all work.

- The two main characters, which we'll both make one of
- Side characters. People have been slowly disappearing into The House for ages now, so they obviously won't be the only ones there. Some might have arrived there recently, others could have been there months, and perhaps some have lived here since they were children. We don't have to make a huge amount unless you absolutely want to (you known me, I love making more and more of my children), but we'll at least need one more each.
- A very special pair of twins who were actually born in the house whom I'll create, and who will be important to the plot later.
- The master of the house, although he won't be relevant until far later.

And then, if we ever feel bored, we can also make the more mysterious unneeded side side characters like the cook, the person who changed everyone's clothing, etc.)

(Well then. You weren't kidding when you said that you planned this out. Though, that usually helps in the long run.

Having side characters will be great. I figure that at least one of them has gone insane by the time our characters arrive. Weather they're outwardly crazy or not is up to whoever has that character. Luckily, if/when we get bored of our side characters, I'm assuming they simply "disappear" at first.

This should be interesting!)

(I have many, many ideas. Including why the house exists and such.
I actually did already have an idea for a character who used to be extremely reckless and went in an adventure within the back ends if the house, but in the way he lost everyone else with him and nearly lost his own life, so now he's plagued with horrid nightmares, paranoia, and trust issues.

Yes, if we found out there are certain characters we don't need a death can be planned out through either the monsters that come out at 11:30, or a desperate adventure through the house.

I'm nearly done with my first character, so they'll be up in a bit )

Full name: Viria Crysanthymum Noel

Age: 16

D.O.B: September 10th

Gender+Pronouns: Genderfluid; Female + Agender alternating (although usually agender) - They/Them

Romantic/Sexual Orientation: Panromantic Asexual

How long have you been in the house?: Just arrived

Role: MC 1

[PERSONAL
Personality: When completely happy and stable, Viria is actually a very mild person. While alone their attitude can be very go with the flow; their act is generally calm and flexible. Due to a speech impairment stringing together sentences isn't their cup of tea, so they're usually quiet. But mentally they do a good bit of soft speech, and they have an extremely vivid imagination that they found discuss for ages if needed.
Mental illness has an effect on their personality, of course (their diagnosed mental illnesses are listed in the extra section). Viria is a loner who tends to avoid human interaction, seeing as she holds a high distrust of other people. It is close impossible for them to pick up on normal social cues such as body language, tone of voice, etc. They tend to assume everyone but themselves feels in one specific way about everything, and is therefore highly prone to miscommunication.
When they do interact it can often have an overwhelming effect on their brain, and high amounts of people cause then to shake, fiddle recklessly with their hands, pick at their skin, and mumble incessantly to themselves.
They're often completely absorbed in the world they've built you for themselves called Camilia. Since their stuffed animals and dolls are their link to that world they own next to hundreds; it serves as a coping mechanism and special interest. They proclaim that said toys speak to them, and talk to them often.
Never call them human. They believe themselves to be not so, and will immediately feel offended and threatened.
Other than the many many thoughts swirling within their head, they tend to show a lack of proper emotion and reaction to various situations, especially empathy.

Strengths: -It's a habit of theirs to mentally picture and plan out everything they will do and say beforehand as a way of coping. It can cause them to be very logical and organized at times.
-Their vivid imagination can not only entertain them for ages, but allow them to create many many ways out if situations and new ways of remaining stable.
-Once they have a solution or a plan, then no convincing of any kind will cause them to waver from their path.
-They have a very high self esteem that's not easily wrecked.
-Its difficult to convince them to do anything against their will.

Weaknesses: -Has a huge amount of trouble with communication and interaction.
-Will often screech and refuse help during a bad situation or while having a breakdown.
-Often gets too absorbed in their own mind, and doesn't pay attention therefore.
-While they do plan things out, those plans aren't flexible. If something goes wrong in those plans they'll be immediately spiral down into negativity/distrust and have to build themselves up again.
-They do not trust easily at ALL.
-Their large superiority complex can at times take them down dangerous paths.
-Has rather low empathy levels.
-Despite hating having to ask for help, isolating themselves has caused them to be horrid at personal hygiene, and they can't honestly take care of themselves for long without help or detailed instructions from another person.

Likes: Toys, especially stuffed animals and dolls | bunnies | cats | the smell of peppermint | pale shades of blue | chewy candies | strawberries | Camilia | people who aren't willing to give up on them after one breakdown or outburst | butterflies | bright objects/colors

Dislikes: large amounts of people | loud noises | being yelled at | rough textures | situations where they're forced to talk clearly | school | dogs | asking for help

[HISTORY]
Relationships: Having very Barney been willing to interact and allow new friends, their only current relationships are their mother, fathers and older brother.

Biography: Viria was the middle child with a sister five years older and a brother two years younger. They grew up without a mother, seeing as she was severely ill when she gave birth to the youngest, and never made it through the birth. However, their father was as caring as he could possibly be and tended to them accordingly.

Viria had their share of issues, and displayed signs of mental illness from a young age. This primarily consisted of eccentric beliefs that they refused to relinquish. According to them, all of their toys would consistently speak to them and all came from a world called Camilia. Camilia was where they meant to ascend to someday, since they didn't belong on earth. Other than that they also showed an inability to interact with their peers without extreme confusion and difficulty, and displayed a general speech delay. However, their father was their constant support, and he made sure they were always a sheltered child whose issues never ran out of hand

Life went fairly decently until Viria was around seven. Her father had temporarily left the house while the children were at school, but having traveled all the earlier day he was tired, and ended up in an accident. This was a messy issue to deal with, and as soon as Viria comprehended that their father had left and was never returning they into question complete panic. They began to mutter nonsensically about how their toy animals had predicted this would happen, and that they would be next. They even attempted to run away that night and take their younger brother with them. Both were found of course, but it took her days to properly recover. In the end it turned out they had no close relatives or friends who were able to take them, and the children (then 12, 7, and 5) were put in the foster care system.

Viria was already slowly beginning to harbor the inward belief that people were dangerous creatures who were likely out to get them. And as their siblings were slowly adopted into separate families, this extended to the idea that growing close to someone would only result in their being taken away. Without their one support figure now gone, Viria began to sink deeper and deeper into the idea of Camilia, and tried to completely isolate themselves from other people. Whenever a family agreed to take them she would always make sure that they didn't keep them for long. Their illnesses went untreated, and the world became an intimidating place, and eventually lost her hold on reality.

It wasn't until they were 14 that a couple who in fact already had a neurodivergent child took them in. And that particular couple differed from the rest. Despite the fact that Viria broke down, was in the midst of isolation, and harbored beliefs that could not be take from them, these people didn't give up on them. They continued to very slowly care of them, talk to them, and attempted to rebuild their sense of trust. Things actually began to go uphill from there. They managed to get Viria a proper diagnosis as well, and over the course of two years they've managed to achieve a certain amount of recovery, and at the very least are fairly content with their current life.

[APPEARANCE]
Height: 5' 5"

Weight: 172 lbs.

Hair Color: Snow white

Eye color: Sky blue

[EXTRA]
Viria has been diagnosed with all of the following:
•Autism
•Schizotypal Personality Disorder (stpd)
•Psychosis
•Paranoia

Common forms of stimming with them (and also effective coping mechanisms for breakdowns and other similar situations) are squeezing soft objects such as stuffed animals, the scent of peppermint, and chewing on hard or flexible objects. They often tend to overeat because of the third one, though.

Viria adores bright articles of clothing (especially soft ones) and equally bright accessories such as feathers, necklaces and anything else they may find. You'll often find that they've draped themselves in said clothing and accessories in rather eccentric manners.

They have a speech impediment in which their thoughts move far faster than they're physically capable of keeping up with, so when they do try to speak it comes out either in broken words or in garbled incoherent sentences. However, they've been shown to speak properly if they take it very slowly and surely.

Viria didn't begin identifying as genderfluid until they were around 11. Camilia had caused them to believe they were a genderless being, yet at the same time they feel attached to the female gender, and they tend to fluctuate between which they identify with more from day to day.

Full name: Arin Nadia Hall

Age: 17

D.O.B: November 7th

Gender+Pronouns: Cis-gendered female; uses pronouns She/Her

Romantic/Sexual Orientation: Panromantic demisexual

How long have you been in the house?: Just arrived

Role: MC 2

[PERSONAL]
Personality: Arin is, for all outward appearances, a ball of sunshine. She seems to constantly smile and have a witty remark for every situation. She will gladly take the role of leader, but is also willing to step back and follow. Over all, she is a go-with-the-flow kind of person.
The truth behind her is a bit darker, as well as far more negative. Arin is deceptive and hateful to just about everyone. She usually breaks off any connections to a person she feels that she is starting to care for. There has only been one exception in her life, and that was her younger sister.
For the most part, she never reveals her hatred of people until she has absolutely ruined a person. Most of the time, she never reveals that she was behind someone's downfall, instead using her habit of slipping off to come up with another lie for another day.
Arin's biggest problem with herself is her sense of regret. She does occasionally feel sorry for someone that she's hurt, especially when it escalates too far. Her kinder nature is in a constant battle with her crueler one, leading to a somewhat unstable period from time to time. Due to this, she can be reckless or rebellious for a short time and make many problematic mistakes.
The easiest way to tell if someone has grown on her is if she suddenly cuts off all contact. She will make up a story or straight up shun them. Even to her own self, she doesn't know if this is to protect her or the other person from what will most likely happen.

Strengths:
-Level-headed; she is hard to shake or get riled up. For the most part she is calm and able to take anything in stride.
-Charismatic; she can turn a situation around to make herself out to be the hero by using nothing but words. Likewise, she can get into a person's head to get the result she wants.
-Patient; she plans out for days on end to make sure everything goes as she wants. Save the points where she starts to question herself, she is usually able to stick to a plan and see it through to the end.
-Adaptable; she can play any persona she needs to from ditsy and clumsy to intelligent and philosophical. She knows how to be the kind of person that someone likes if she can get in their head fast enough.

Weaknesses:
-Cowardly; she will quickly get out of any situation that puts either herself or her personalities in danger, be it people, places, or anything else.
-Physically inept; she was never the more athletic person in her family, and due to her needing to use words more than actions, she never went out of her way to build strength or stamina.
-Self-confusing; she is sometimes unsure if she truly cares for someone or if she's just playing her role too hard. This can lead to her getting rattled and lost.
-Vengeful; she will go out of her way to get revenge, which can override many other traits, including her cowardice, but also her level-headedness and patience. If she sees an opening to a person she truly hates, she will take it without scanning over the consequences.

Likes:
-Theater
-Springtime
-Cool air
-Green tea
-Piano music
-Skating
-Getting what she wants
-Most animals, especially spiders
-Old pictures of her family
-Sunflowers

Dislikes:
-Humanity in general
-Being too hot
-Ice cream
-When her plan goes out of her control
-Losing
-Being pitied
-Being told "I love you"

[HISTORY]
Relationships: Arin is cautious with her relationships, though there are many that consider her a "friend." Her closest relationship has been with her sister, Eva. She is distanced from her parents.

Biography: Arin wasn't always cold and heartless. She was born into a loving family, despite her parents being busy constantly. They were obsessed with work, though loved their daughters very much. It wasn't until Arin was three that her younger sister was born, though once she was, Arin grew completely attached. She adored her sister more than anything or anyone else in the world.

As years passed, it was noticed that Eva was gifted. She was a brilliant pianist from the age of six and always played for the family. While Arin wasn't nearly as gifted, she tried to learn alongside her sister. They kept each other closer than anyone and were nearly inseparable. The girls broke down crying when Arin first went to middle school and found out that she wouldn't be going to the same school as Eva any longer. Still, Arin was determined to be the role model that Eva needed and did her best to do well for her.

Life took a turn for the worse when Eva started middle school. She wasn't the most in-tune with reality and was more imaginative than most kids her age. She was bullied in school, though never told anyone for a long time. Eventually, Arin found out and tried to help, but the damage had been done. Eva fell into a depression and stopped everything that she used to do. She stopped playing with dolls, she stopped inventing stories, and she even quit piano. When Arin was fourteen, a few months from being fifteen, she found a note left by Eva. Her sister had run away from home and was found dead in a gutter a few weeks later.

From then on, Arin changed. As far as she was concerned, Eva had been the only person of any importance in the world. She got close to people only to anonymously reveal secrets and make up rumors that ruined them. At first, it was only bullies, with Arin seeing herself as a sort of Robin Hood. That didn't last long and her hatred of the people that caused Eva to die consumed her. Anyone she chose to hurt, she did. For the most part, she went after those that weren't already being picked on. In her mind, it was all revenge, though she was truly lost at that point. She had never envisioned life without her sister and she went through her life hating others because of that. Anyone who mentions her sister or shows her pity becomes the next on her list. She invented several online personas not linked to her in order to destroy the reputations of people.

She is in the theater program at her school

For nearly a year, she went on talking to her sister as if she was still in the house. Her mother had several breakdowns because of this, causing the distance between Arin and her parents

She is pretty good with computers and knows how to make her accounts untraceable.

(I really love Viria. They're going confuse and infuriate Arin so, so much. Speaking of, Arin was not originally going to be this kind of character. In all honesty, she kinda spiraled out of control. Ehheh.)

Age: Unknown, but they appear to be around 15

D.O.B.: Unknown

Gender+Pronouns: The two of them have never stated their gender, and yet they're not genderless, so it remains unknown. However, they are feminine-presenting and use it/its Pronouns.

Romantic/Sexual Orientation: Biromantic PansexualQuoiromantic Lithsexual

How long have you been in the house?: Ages and ages, possibly since the house was first created.

Role: Yet unknown

[PERSONAL]
Personality: While the twins are still in the company of each other, then they are both exactly the same, and breathe definition of horror movie twins. They always have wide creepy smiles on their faces, and rarely ever speak other than to whisper frantically in each other's ears. It would seem as if their job is to regulate the peel of The House, and that's exactly what they do. No matter where you are, no matter what you're doing, you can always sure that one of them is watching, prepared to report back to the other. The both of them seem yo know almost everything about The House, but they usually refuse to share this knowledge. They absolutely refuse to let go of each other for long, as if they'd die without each other. But if you can manage to drag them apart, they turn into completely different people.
-
When separated, Belle is the softer of the two. It's generally quite the quiet and shy little soul, with a vivid imagination, and an honest heart. It often can't seem to bring itself to talk to people for long, but once you give it a push it can talk in a soft little voice about its imaginings for ages, if needed. It especially loves young children, and has quite the caring heart. Overall Belle has an enhanced logical function, and uses this to work its way through most problems. However, it is also very intuitive and has become very skilled overtime at detecting and deciphering inner thoughts and emotions. Its a very wise little soul.
-
When separated, Tigerlily is its twin's utter opposite. It can't seem to control the volume in its voice, and absolutely loves jumping from person to person in The House, rambling about whatever comes to mind. Its horribly fidgety feeling the constant need for a thrill, and will often pull exceedingly dangerous stunts to satisfy said thrill. It ways acts before it thinks, and is often seen as dangerous because of it. Howrver, it has good intentions and is an extremely loyal friend and leader. In all honesty it has horrible self-esteem, which is why it often turns to recklessness and violence as a way of validating itself. However, it ways has its twin to lift it up.

You could go back to the very first person who got sucked into The House, and they would be able to tell you exactly who Tigerlily and Belle are. As of now, they seemingly only exist to regulate the people within, and taunt then with their knowledge.

(I do hate having to ask this, but would you be willing to make the opening post for me? Due to the stressful day I haven't been able to do so or work on Benjamin (whom I'm going to wait to introduce until later), and I would appreciate it if you could start us out. The only guidelines are for your character to wake up inside the huge front doors of the house in a large red carpeted hallway, and at the end of said post they realize they are accompanied by another human presence.)

(Don't worry about it! It's been a really long time since I roleplayed with you, so I apologize if my responses aren't as good as you remember ^^')

There was nothing, at first. No noise, no wind, no setting. There was nothing but darkness. Slowly, as if someone picked up a pencil and started to sketch, shapes and forms began to take place as Arin opened her eyes. There was something about the scent that reminded her of the old house that her grandmother had, but it lacked the almost too sweet perfume and the scent of casserole. Instead, it was an alien scent that echoed a place that had been forgotten by time.

Arin picked herself up off the floor, running a hand through her bangs and blinking in order to see her surroundings better. Her vision moved in and out of focus and eventually she had to squeeze her eyes back shut in order to keep from getting sick. The next time she looked around, she was able to see where she was. The only problem was that she recognized absolutely nothing. The house had undoubtedly been beautiful once, but now there was something about it that was warn and cold.

Standing up, she ran a hand over the long sweater she was wearing to smooth it out and dusted off her hands. Her mind was still catching up, and as it did, the panic began to set in. Where was she? Who brought her there? She walked forward towards a large set of double doors, which she realized were far too big for any modern building. Doing the logical thing, she placed a hand on the handle and pulled, then twisted, then pushed. No matter what she did, including hitting the door itself, nothing happened. She breathed out slowly, then turned to look behind her. A long, red carpet acted like a path to the rest of the house.

"Alright..." she murmured, stepping forward and walking along the carpet, but not leaving the room. "There has to be a reason I'm here. I'm not crazy. Maybe Dallas was pulling a prank. Yeah, he would do something stupid like this." She took another breath then called out, "Hello? Dallas? I swear to God, if it's you pulling this right now..." She waited on a response, but got nothing. There was nothing but silence, which seemed loud in of itself.

Arin swallowed, hoping to push down her rising fear a bit longer in order to rationalize what was going on. She prayed that this wasn't karma coming back to get her. She didn't deserve to be kidnapped, did she? Besides, no one had a reason to kidnap her. Her parents were middle class at best and didn't have any enemies, so who would want to lock her in this place?

Just as Arin was about to leave, she felt something. Now, saying that the blonde was psychic would be incorrect. However, she did have an uncanny sense of being able to tell when she was being followed or watched. It may have been natural paranoia, but she was usually right. That being said, she suddenly tuned in to another human presence very close to her. Due to the lighting in that part of the house, she couldn't be quite sure where the person was, but she quickly backed to a wall and scanned for the other person who was in the room with her.

((Oh, don't worry, that's a perfectly good post.))

At first there was only blackness. A dark, penetrating blackness that covered their eyes and a splitting pain that rang through their head like a bell as Viria finally came to consciousness. Gray static clouded their vision as their blue eyes slowly slid open, and began to flicker back and forth as sight returned to them. Where . . . Were they? Why were they laying there? And why were they in so much pain?

They were lying face down on the floor with their thick white curls tumbling down their back, wearing nothing but jeans, sneakers, and a very fussy black sweater. A faded shade of crimson red met their vision, and dust slid through their nostrils as they began to breath again, causing them to wheeze for a moment. Before their eyes was a spacious front hallway carpeted in red, with giant wooden double doors and a high arched ceiling. They were having trouble processing what was happened, but very slowly memories were filling their head.

They had . . . Been walking . . . With mother . . . When they saw . . . A store? Yes. They had wanted to go into the store, because a toy had been calling to them. They somehow . . . Wanted to walk through the door . . . And did it . . . Without permission . . . But that was where their memories halted. Everything went black once they walked through, and now they were here.

Could this . . . Be Camilia? Could I have died? Have I finally passed away and ascended?
"No. That's wrong, Vir. I've never seen this place before."

A soft cry answered their thought. Glancing down, they saw in their sweater pocket a black haired doll with a floral patterned dress. As soon as they were answered, panic and fear slowly began to cloud their mind, and instead o standing u they immediately curled up into a tiny ball beginning to breath hard and fast, while digging their hands into their palms. If this wasn't home or Camilia, then where were they? Had they been kidnapped? Were they going to be tortured? Hurt? Had they been abandoned by mother and the rest? Betrayed? How on earth would they ever survive now? Die. Die. They were going to die. They have to die. Before someone kills them.

But a completely new fear filled their insides with dread. There, on the opposite wall stating suspiciously their direction, was a human being. This couldn't be. They didn't plan for this to happen today. Now they really were going to be killed. Their heart was thumping in their ears like a drum, and their mind was clouded by a single thought: "Kill me." In their moment of panic, a garbled string of words began to escape their mouth in a high and squeaky tone. "nawa why . . . How . . . hea kill me . . ."

Arin held her hand clenched in a fist, ready to try and either talk to or attack the person there in the room with her. She stepped closer, but quickly froze, hearing the person speak. At first, she hadn't the slightest idea what the other had said, but the last two words made sense. 'Kill me.'

Why would the person say that? She stepped closer once again, squinting to see the other. She noticed the white hair and pale skin that the other possessed, as well as the terrified expression on the face of the person. "Who are you?" she asked. The fear she had herself made her sound far less commanding. That, and the other person looked around the age of fourteen. She stopped a few feet away from the other girl, her eyes locked on to her. "Did you bring me here?"

She doubted that part, but still, it was a valid question. The house was no less creepy than when she first looked around, and this person, who she was assuming to be a girl, wasn't quite helping. Out of all of the things that she could first hear when arriving at such a place, "kill me" was not what she was hoping for.

How had she even gotten here? There was a pain on the back of her head, and she dimly remembered someone hitting her with a ball earlier that day. Was it the same day? She had no way of telling what time it was or when it was. She could have been passed out a week in front of that door and she wouldn't know it. She didn't wear a watch and her phone was nowhere to be found. She could only hope and pray that this other person had a way of knowing what was going on. Then again, from the expression and speech, she highly doubted it at this point. Threatening wasn't exactly the first word that came to mind when she looked at the white haired person.

They had stepped closer. They were here. They were talking.

As soon as they processed that this person was in fact a dressing them, Viria let out a yelp and backed away as far as she could until their body hit the wall, and curled up into as small of a body as they could manage. Their breathing had lapsed into ragged gasps at this point.

Notgoodnotgoodnotgoodhelphelphelp
"Vir? Will you be fine? This person wants help. They have questions."

Two years with a far more understanding family than their previous ones had certainly done them some good. Directly before they were about to completely break down, Viria was able to register in the back if her mind that this person had inquiries of them, and if they didn't talk to them they would both be stuck. On impulse, they reached for the doll at their side and squeezed it securely to their chest, breathing deeply into its hair and counting to one hundred under their breath. They had to calm down . . . Something . . . Was wrong . . .

After around five minutes of this Viria had finally gone silent. They weren't exactly calm and composed, it was more of this their kind had gone devoid of thought. Nevertheless, they slowly raised their head you and forced themselves to peer into this stranger's face.

"They're an imposter, Vir. Don't trust them. Not at all."
". . . I know . . ."

This person had asked them a question, hadn't they? They hadn't been able to process it at the time though, so whatever it could have been was now lost to them. For a few moments they were silent, trying their best to take hold of the situation. Should they speak? Should they protest against being harmed? A few slow sentences began to stream out of their mouth once more, almost unconsciously. They were still a bit stammered and broken apart, but at least they made sense.

"I didn't . . . Take . . . H-here . . . Who y-you? How . . . Are . . . W-w-e here? . . . Are you an imposter?"
Больше года AnimeAvarice said…
Arin instinctively stepped back when the other person moved away. She wasn't exactly calm herself and automatically thought that she would be attacked. However, it seemed that wouldn't be the case. Instead, it seemed that she and her new "friend" were far too jumpy for the other. She needed to calm down. If she didn't, neither of them would get anywhere.

Taking a deep breath, she made sense of the other person's words. At least, everything but the last one. Impostor? What did that mean? Shaking her head, Arin looked over the... child? carefully. They didn't look quite stable.

"What are you doing, Arin?" she thought. "This isn't the time to freak out. The better you know this person, the better you understand what's going on."

She closed her eyes a moment and let out a breath. When she opened her eyes, she offered a gentle smile and knelt down, though didn't get any closer. "My name is Arin. I'm not an impostor, I promise. I'm not sure how we got here, but if we work together, we can try to get out, okay?"

She watched carefully for any signs of panic on the other person. She had managed to convince herself that she was just in one more of her schemes, getting what she wanted by being nice. That was all, the setting didn't matter. Her heartbeat slowed down to normal and her muscles relaxed. The familiar state of mind was more than welcome for her, even if it was at the white haired teenager's expense. Arin wasn't known for her compassion before, and she didn't need to be now. All she had to do was be nice and helpful until they got out of... wherever they were.
