Not that anyone cares but I actually relate to Lorelai quite a bit. We're both sarcastic and snarky, pop culture junkies, neither of us can really cook, complicated relationship with parents, not the greatest track record with romantic relationships... but you know, I'm sure everyone will just keep ignoring that I don't relate to majority of the characters I'm being voted for so whatever. Everyone else pretty much gets who they want, or at least second choice, but I'm sure I'll be accused of being over dramatic for being tired of getting all the older, less attractive characters.

^Okay, I'm gonna start off by saying I'm coming at this in a really respectful way and I'm not being rude or disrespectful (I just want to state this because you can't really state tone when you're typing and I don't want anything I say to be misinterpreted.)

These are just some fun picks on the internet. They don't determine who you are or who you're not. Just because some people say you're someone or say you're not someone it literally doesn't matter. What you think matters. These picks are tricky because not everyone is going to get the character they relate to most or at all. I got George in the Harry Potter picks and after looking him up I noticed I'm actually nothing like him and for the Skins picks I'm probably going to get Alo or maybe even Sid (a character I honestly don't even like all that much) but I know that everyone is voting me for these characters because they're seeing good qualities in them that they also see in me. I stated on the Sid pick that I don't see myself as him at all, but if I still get him, then oh well. Just like Amber is nothing like Catelyn in the GoT picks and Aline is nothing like Cook in the Skins picks... the reason Maria is being chosen for Lorelai despite multiple people on the spot relating to Lorelai is because not only is Lorelai a character Maria relates to but it's a character she absolutely adores a lot. Which is why everyone chose Elle for Rory despite the fact that Amber is SUCH a Rory as well. These shows have such limited characters so its obvious not everyone is going to get the character they want or relate to is basically my point. it's not meant to be insulting... And I know it feels like you're the only one being stuck with characters you don't relate to but literally it's happened to all of us at least once in some way or form. For example, when we were saying goodbye to Skam we made Maria be Chris even though she's nothing like her... But honestly, if picks like these are going to hurt people's feelings then i don't think we should do them at all, because then everyone is gonna feel weird about picking and its just going to turn into walking on egg shells to try and not to offend anyone.

And I understand that you want to be picked for the characters you relate to the most but all of us do. But it's also about sharing. Like the description you made of Lorelai? I relate to it 98%, Lorelai is my fave female from Gilmore (which is also my fave show) and I would love to be picked for her and yet, I choose Maria because I know how much she loves Lorelai and that she relates to her too. So, I want her to be happy with those picks too. And that goes for everyone on the spot. I'd rather have a character I don't really like or not relate to, rather than having what I want and others don't having fun with the picks anymore. And so far I even voted for people I don't like or relate to in all the picks: do I relate to or like Jon or Cook? No, but I still got them and it's fine. I voted for Sirius even though I don't relate to him because I didn't want to pick Amber who's even less like him than me. I don't want to be mean or disrespectful, but like Rana said, this is only picks and they don't decide who you are or who you think you are. If you get who you relate most to, that's wonderful, but complaining about who you didn't get is not fair for the person who does get picked. I mean you did get Katie for Skins - who you relate the most to if I'm not mistaken, so it's just a matter of not getting it every time and we don't do that on purpose. I can only speak for myself, but I always try to satisfy everyone but since we can only pick one character/one member, it's difficult. So, I'm sorry but there are times that you're not going to get what you want, but it's not just you, all of us are going to get a character we don't like/relate to and yet, we don't write negative comments about it. Again, I'm saying this in the most calm and respectful way but sometimes, you gotta try to see it from our perspective too.

Agree with the girls. These picks are meant to be fun. And it's also, in my opinion, great to share everyone's point of view about the character/member' personnality. I personally have troubles to choose when I don't watch the show, so I'm never 100% sure about my vote.
If you prefer not to be included in the picks Holly, it's fine, just mention it :)

Anyway, I choose Maria for this pick, though I could probably relate to Lorelei if I watched the show. But I could alos see Aline, or Holly.

It's not that I don't want to be included, and I understand that I'm not always going to "get who I want" I think you guys are misunderstanding why I'm upset. Sure, others may not get the exact character they want, but it seems like most of the time I'm getting the OLD people, the characters that aren't really considered attractive/beautiful, etc.

And it's not just that, this is becoming reminiscent of a few years ago when shit got really cliquish, when only certain people could "claim" a character, and when it was pointed out a number of us agreed that it had got annoying... Yet I can't be upset because I seem to keep getting the less desirable characters??

I think what probably upsets Holly with these picks is that she feels like we don't know her as well as she thought we did? I have to admit, I can sometimes be "annoyed" when people picture me as this happy, bubbly person whereas I know in real life I'm the exact opposite of that. But as much as we all love each other we can't forget that this is still the Internet. Nobody knows us as well as we know ourselves..
And if we relate to a certain character, it's probably because of totally different reasons than someone else does! For example, me & Nic both relate so much to Ron, but I wouldn't exactly say we're twins when it comes to personality p ;P These picks are meant for fun, as our all of the picks we make, and I understand it's not pleasant to end up with a character you didn't want. And f*ck yeah, sometimes we're also probably a bit biased, I won't deny that. But I also find it interesting to see who you guys think I'm like, even though it's sometimes not correct ;P And I'm sure that I don't only speak for myself when I say that when we pick a certain character for someone, it's for POSITIVE REASONS ONLY!! And DEFINITELY NOT for the appearance or age anything of a sort. <3

And I'm going with Maria for Lorelai purely based on these descriptions, because wtf do I know about all of these characters! :P
