I've shipped same-sex pairing before but not because of the reasons listed. One of my two favorite LGBT ships (Ymir x Krista from Attack on Titan) is canon but not problematic. Another one of my other favorite LGBT ships is also from Attack on Titan (it's Jean and Marco) and it is a bit problematic because...well.. Anyone who has seen the anime will know why....

^ It's all a matter of opinion. I'd say Lexa betraying Clarke, going behind her back to form an alliance with the enemy, and then abandoning Clarke and leaving all her people to die inside Mount Weather (including Clarke's mother) is a tiny bit problematic, but whatevs. To each their own. Sometimes your gf just ditches you and leaves all your loved ones to be slaughtered. It happens. Super casual.

Most of my ships (same sex or not) are problematic in some form or another, and it's not really because I'm desperate for representation. That's just what I gravitate towards, either for personal reasons or because I find the dynamic of certain characters interesting.

I have very particular feelings about fictional romance, and if a ship is problematic, LGBT+ or no, I won't ship it. It's unhealthy to me to promote that abuse among LGBT+ couples is okay, because "Hey! They're homosexual! So at least it some representation!"
