While she continues to remain mum on the controversial issue of alleged maltreatment of extras on the set of the defunct teleserye “Forevermore,” Cathy Garcia-Molina took a break from what seems like a self-imposed hiatus on social media to greet Liza Soberano, who turned 18 last January 4.
As posted by the YouTube account Tatak LIZQUEN, the embattled director was one of several well-wishers of the “Forevermore” star, which also included other Kapamilya stars like Piolo Pascual, Sarah Geronimo, Kim Chiu, Enchong Dee, Gerald Anderson and Robi Domingo.
In her own video greeting posted last Tuesday, Garcia-Molina also expressed her wish for the birthday girl.
“18 ka na! Ang dami mo nang puwedeng gawin. Puwede ka nang mag-travel mag-isa. Puwede ka nang magka-boyfriend. Puwede ka nang bumoto,” she exclaimed.
“But I hope everytime you always bear in mind why you are loved because one, you’re very simple, kind, family-loving, God-fearing, very humble, and has that dedication and passion for the work, for our work. And I hope you stay this way. Kahit hanggang 40 years old ka na, hindi kukupas yun for as long as you have those qualities.”
In his letter-complaint to ABS-CBN Head of Broadcast Cory Vidanes last October, 2014, “Forevermore” bit player Alvin Campomanes alleged that while Garcia-Molina was rude and disrespectful to him and other extras, she was particularly nice and deferential to her headliners and veteran supporting cast.
“She was servile to Luz Fernandez, courteous to Joe Gruta, solicitous to Liza Soberano, and friendly to Joey Marquez and Irma Adlawan. Liza committed a lot of mistakes in delivering simple lines, but the director shielded her from criticism. She never uttered anything that could embarrass the young actress. This sensitiveness to the feelings of others, however, was selective; it was only for stars and veteran actors,” wrote Camponanes, who also happens to be an academician at the University of the Philippines.
Campomanes’ letter accompanied the New Year’s Eve open letter to Garcia-Molina by his girlfriend Rossellyn Domingo that started the controversy. Domingo also played a small role in the series.
So far, ABS-CBN has issued a statement on the matter and revealed that they have reached out to Campomanes and “have agreed to meet to resolve the matter.”
