X Factor couple Rebecca Ferguson and Zayn Malik - from One Direction - have ended their relationship, according to the papers.

The Sunday Mirror reports that Rebecca, who finished runner-up to Matt Cardle in the 2010 series, and Zayn, who finished third as part of the band made the decision to part company for the sake of their careers.

Rebecca has reportedly told Друзья she is "completely gutted" that their romance is over.

However she added, "I'm happy I've decided to be single - my children, my family and my career are now my world."

Despite coming third on last year's X Factor, One Direction have remained firm favourites with the teenage fanbase whose parents refused to allow them to vote for the umpteenth time during the boys' time on the hit show.

The following Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan garnered during their time on the Показать was insane and encouraged their mentor, Simon Cowell to sign them up once the Показать was over.

And now the fivesome have followed Cher Lloyd across the Atlantic to Los Angeles, to start work on their debut album.
