One Direction singer buys $10m mansion

One Direction\'s Liam Payne has splashed out a cool £5.1 million (NZ$9.9 million) on a lavish pad in Surrey, in South-East England.

The three-storey mansion in Surrey reportedly has a tennis court, cinema, outdoor pool, 700-bottle wine room and even a ballet studio for Payne to practise his dance routines in.

It\'s a significant upgrade for the singer, 21, who grew up in a modest three-bedroom semi-detached house in Wolverhampton, and who had been living on the 34th floor in an upmarket apartment in London\'s Docklands. 

And it isn\'t the only bricks and mortar the pop star has invested in. He has also bought a house near his childhood home in West Midlands for his parents.

The purchase comes after reports that One Direction, also comprising Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan, raked in more than £180 million (NZ$351 million) from their tours in 2014.

The boy-band sensation will be back on the road for a world tour next month.
