Hitting the red carpet can be a stressful and traumatic event even for the most seasoned of celebrities. Imagine having a bajillion flashing cameras right in front of you and having to pose for that many pics at once. We\'d be chucking out derp face after derp face even when trying to look sexy af.

One Direction are of course total pros at posing by now, but at last night\'s AMAs, things all got a bit much for the boys, and there were some truly hilarious facial expressions happening from all of \'em.

We\'re gonna take an indepth look at a selection of their best to try and figure out what they were really thinking ahead of scooping their awards. Wanna give us a hand?

1. Liam: Oh Christ he thinks it\'s a urinal doesn\'t he. He\'s going to do a wee and we\'re never going to be invited back. I cannot bring these children anywhere.

Louis: DARE YOU TO DO A WEE HARRY. DARE YOU. SPRAY IT UP THE WALL.

Harry: No but my suit was a really good choice, wasn\'t it lads? Tell me it doesn\'t look great. Want to see the matching undies too?

2. Harry: I\'ll let you in on a secret, lads. This jacket was my mom\'s in the 80s. Vintage - so adorable.

Niall: That is the ugliest effing suit I\'ve ever seen.

Louis: ​Two years ago Harry told me floral suits were his thing and I wasn\'t allowed to wear them anymore. And then for Hannakuh my parents got this really expensive floral suit and I had to pretend like I didn\'t even like it and... it was so sad. 

Liam: Probably shouldn\'t have stayed up til 3am watching funny dog videos.

3. Liam: OOOH is that the buffet opening? I\'m going straight to the quiche.

Louis: Quite fancy those sausage rolls myself, Payno.

Niall: Buffet choices are always so hard. I wasn\'t expecting this kind of responsibility this evening. Don\'t let them see you cry, Nialler. You can do this.

4. Harry: Knock knock. No, you say who\'s there. No I already said knock knock, you have to say who\'s there. Just say who\'s...God I can\'t WORK with these idiots.

Niall: Should have asked me, Harry. I know how they work. I\'m really great at them.

Louis: If I take two plates at once then I could double up on the sausage rolls and also have some room left to stack a few scotch eggs on top. This is why they call me the brains of 1D.

Niall: Erch, it\'s so hard to remember those tips Zayn gave me on how to smoulder last time we were here. Pretty sure it was something along these lines. Is this working Harry?

Harry: So happy I helped that old lady cross the road this morning, everyone should do at least one good deed each day and be the rainbow in their own life.

6. Liam: Wait, what if there\'s no quiche? If there\'s no quiche I\'m gonna be so sad.

8. Harry: WOAH, nearly lost the secret toupee there in that shock gust of wind. Hope nobody noticed, although my true bald shiny head would look particularly pretty with this floral jacket. Nobody must know the truth.
