I love "you're always saving me" the place, the timing, everything was perfect when she said it!!
Then maybe I would have compared "you're always saving me" with "the girl behind the red door" or "you're gonna change the wold someday"...
I'm not trying to pick a fight babe - I'm just thinking out loud, lol. Anyhow, I love the quote "you're always saving me." "I wanted you to fight for me" is depressing and whiny IMO. There are much better BL quotes that could match up against "you're always saving me". I don't even know why "I wanted you to fight for me" is remembered as iconic for BL. It's just another stab at BL's weak connection - at how out of tune they were with eachother's wants and needs. Brooke was secretly begging luke to fight for her like he did for peyton - only after she pleaded then APOLOGIZED for it did luke actually make more of an effort. It was a gimped start to a doomed relationship. But that's just my opinion :P
I didn't take it personally, but I believe they do compare. But I admit I wasn't trying to be fair (my point was what rosangie said) :P
But Brucas fans are going to believe what they believe so in the end this is fair. Also, both of these quotes were brought up in 6x16 so there's another reason why they compare.
I kinda like both quotes, but i prefer the "I wanted you to fight for me" better. =)
I agree with what some people said, but to me this quote is not depressing, like Abs said. Not thinking about the scene behind it, and the couples, i think Brooke's quote is stronger.
Here is this girl saying "Wake up. FIGHT for me! Make a move." Saying exacly what she wants, being frontal.
"You're always saving me" reminds me of a girl who can not save herfelf, and that needs help all the times.
I know that Peyton isn't really like that, but like i said, i'm just thinking on the quote, not the scenes or the people involved. ;)
i agree that it is not a fair comparison! but oh well, we have enough picks thats biased against them or peyton ...
e.g does she look like scarlet. options : scarlett is prettier. with no options that says peyton is prettier :S
LOL Laurra...you´re right. The maker of that pick says that Hilarie is beautiful, but Peyton not so much.
hmm...
Anyways,my opinion has been said.
*gets prepared to be murdered*
Brooke's "i wanted you to fight for me" sounds like something one of those spoilt brats on "My super sweet sixteen" would say =S
Gods damn i hate those kids! lol
I just don't think that just cause both quotes were mentioned in 616 that it makes the two contextually comparable IMO. But I agree that people will still vote bias and that picks have been made bias against peyton :P
Anyhow, I guess it depends how one looks at the question :)
We don't have to agree.
No worries :)
LOOOOL! It doesn't remind me of those girls at all, but God i agree. I HATE those brats too! xD
Yeah,I agree it all depends how you look at the question.
LOOOL! That's what she said XDDD
But yeah, Brooke's was kinda selfish "It's not enough that I'm THROWING you at different people & you've proclaimed your love for me infront of everyone on the beach, but now you have to fight for me? How could you not know that! Read my mind dammit!"
this quote is not an representation of lucas and brooke's relationship....it's a representation of how complicated the female psyche is! girls never want to simply say what they want to hear or say what they want....they want the guy to figure it on their own. lucas told brooke numerous times that he only wanted to be with her, that even if she wanted to hook up with guys then he doesnt care cause hes only gonna hook up with her, and then he even proclaimed that brooke's the one for him and he's the one for her in front of many people. but since girls are so complicated....he didn't understand that what he was doing was just what brooke needed. brooke was just protecting herself in order not to get hurt by the whole "non exclusive dating" thing (whether i think that was a good reason or not is a whole other story...) so lucas thought that hitting on rachel was exactly what brooke wanted because that's what she said she wanted. brooke's "i wanted you to fight for me" speech reminds of haley's irrational speech to nathan when she asks him to make a list of all the girls he slept with and hes like "all of them?" and she goes- omg how many were there that you need to say "all" (even though it was her words, not his) and then she asks like a hormonal crazy girl sending mixed messages. I LOVE IT! i think it's so funny! while i didn't find this brucas scene as funny....i just think it's a great way of showing how complicated girls are! lucas did fight for her and did exactly what she asked of him.... it's just he didn't realize that what she asked was not actually what she wanted. definitely not one of my favorite quotes...not by far....but it's better than the peyton one.
i HATE the peyton quote....call me a strong feminist but i HATE the idea of lucas "saving" peyton....let the girl frickin save herself! let her show her strength and independence and how powerful she can be- and stop "rescuing" her. nothing bugs me more than a girl who is so dependent on the guy....if this quote was coming from my mouth it would be much more like "youre always frickin saving me! stop it! let me fight my own battles and be my own person!" if lucas and peyton are supposed to be this great couple--- then i REALLY hope he doesn't think of her as this weak girl who constantly needs his help and needs him to save her. you can't love, take care of, and guard someone else with your life....if you can't even do it for yourself.
so while i don't like either quote very much....i find the "saving" (or maybe a better word could be oppressing) one to be an insult to females- and to peyton fans (which included me...up until about this point and the time this quote was said)
but then again....im probably just one of the few radical feminists haha
& I m not being a biased BL fan when im voting for "I wanted you to FIGHT for me", because there is just this thing abt thie quote its soo unique its sumthing that all girls WANT to tell their bf but cant find the right words to convey wht they wanna say..becuz v dont wanna end up sounding too whiny or selfish...but v DO want our guys to fight for us...which is y this is just much more INTERESTING quote..
"you're always saving me" <-- ok as a LPer u might think this is the best quote but its not really that UNIQUE... i mean its just this simple plain line that we've heard so many times in diff forms "thanks for saving me" "you're always rescuing me" etc..
now if u wanted to choose two quotes that can be compared you cudve compared peyton's "you're always saving me" to brooke's "i know its selfish, but i want you to rescue me sumday.." <-- both have sumthing in common..yet againu can see the complexity in the latter quote - dont hear it often, displays feelings while also human tendency to be selfish sumtimes....
things liek saving me u hear it like from every other day every show. it dosnt stand out...it doesnt convey any feeling..but when u c a girl yelling at her bf "i want you to FIGHT for me", then you wud go like alrite U GO GIRL! (express ur feeling the way u want to)..
We all have different opinions, that's why there is two options.
Let's respect that. :)
BTW,people I meant on one tree hill, for these characters and couples, not in general.
Anyways. I think this quote is amazing. I find it funny how anytime Brooke shows her true emotions, the same group of people say she's either being selfish. insecure or playing games. It's like she can never ever win with you guys.
"What I wanted? I wanted you to fight for me! I wanted you to say there is no one else that you could ever be with and that you would rather be alone than without me. I wanted the Lucas Scott from the beach that night, telling the world that he’s the one for me."
"How was I supposed to know that?"
"You just are."
There is nothing selfish or insecure about that to me. And she's definitely not playing any games. There is absolutely nothing selfish about wanting to make sure you don't get your heart broken again. And i don't think it's insecure either. It's called being smart.
wooo BL PWN!
