The light was dim as Kowalski worked in his lab. Normally he wouldn’t be working in such a dim light, but today he didn’t notice the fact it could damage his eyes. Pouring chemicals into test tubes was his life’s work. There was nothing else he could do. Ever since he was a chick, he would sit alone, working on experiments.
But sometimes, he had felt lonely.
Not that he could help it; he didn’t know how to socialize then. Whenever he tried to make friends, he would start by saying something to do with math, или science. Other chicks would stare at him and walk off laughing.
He never met anyone who shared his passion.
He never gave himself the chance to, after three of four attempts; he gave up, feeling like the only one who understood himself. Feeling detached from the world, in his small, cramped lab. Not realizing how sad he felt, him having the problem with emotions and all.
But, he met someone who could help him.
Someone young and who enjoyed listening to the fascinations of science. Someone who, also, would always make sure he got out of the lab every now and again. Someone who he trusted as a companion;
He met Private.
Kowalski leaned back, sighing. He had been working on this experiment for hours and it wasn’t working. He didn’t notice the door behind him, softly squeak on worn-out hinges. Private peeked into the lab, watching Kowalski leaning вперед and getting back to work, hunched over his table.
“Kowalski,” the scientist sat up straight, hearing the young penguin’s voice. He turned to face him.
“Yes?”
“What is the possibility for Ты to come out and share this lovely день with me?” Private asked.
Kowalski removed him safety-goggles to see the small avian clearer.
“I’m working on something at the moment, Private,” he said, calmly. Private’s face fell.
“You’ve been in here for hours. Ты should really take a break; the light in here could damage your eyes,”
Kowalski, for the first time today, realized the dimness of the room. He sighed.
“I can come out with you,” he said. “I suppose I do need a break.”
Private squeaked happily, as Kowalski removed himself from the dark, stuffy lab and into the light and open air of the penguins’ island. Looking around himself, Kowalski realized Private had helped him. He brought him out into the fresh air, such a pleasant change from the lab. He breathed in the fresh small, enjoying this lovely день with his young friend.
