Pretty Little Liars' Shay Mitchell Joins Cast of Lifetime Thriller Ты 

Now that she’s left Rosewood for good, Shay Mitchell is diving right back into another psychological thriller.

alum has signed on to co-star in the upcoming Lifetime drama series 

. Mitchell will play Peach Salinger, a queen-bee type who’s a close friend of aspiring writer Beck, played by series star Elizabeth Lail (

veteran Penn Badgley as Joe, a bookstore owner who becomes obsessed with Beck and uses social media to keep tabs on her and remove any possible obstacles to their romance. Greg Berlanti (

creator Sera Gamble will co-write the pilot script and serve as executive producers.

For seven seasons, Mitchell starred as the athletic Emily Fields on Freeform’s

, which aired its series finale back in June. In addition to the

role, Mitchell has launched her own production company and signed a development deal with Warner Bros. Television.

I think she made a mistake signing onto a show as a supporting role. Shay Mitchell is a talented girl, plus she’s gorgeous. I think this time period in her career (After PLL) should be about working to establish herself as a lead actress. If she’s smart, You is not a 22 episode show and will give her the time to search for other work opportunities.

That is where the production deal comes into play. I would guess that Mitchell is interested in developing various projects to produce but is likely also looking to develop something suitable for herself to play the lead role I would argue that taking a lead role in the wrong project would be a mistake, not playing the third or fourth most important character in a (potentially) quality cable project.

Yeah a supporting role or a”best friend” type seems beneath her at this point. Not to mentions she’s appeared in a couple of movies, i’d like to think she’d chose more starring role projects or at least supporting movie roles. Oh well, I absolutely love her so I’ll check this out

I like her a lot, and she’s GORGEOUS, but she…. is not a great actress. I’m not sure she could carry a lead role. Of course, I may be wrong! But she was definitely the weakest of the main PLL four.

Agreed. Stunning girl, seems nice, I like her a lot and while her acting improved over the series run she was easily the least talented. And not just of the main four, Sasha and Janel were both far more talented. I don’t think she’s really equipped to carry a show a lead, she needs something like PLL where there’s others around her to anchor the show.
