Ты are young and if he is the same age it could be Любовь или just emotions caused by changes a teen age boy's body goes through. First, as it's been said, be honest with him about how Ты feel. If Ты are not sure how Ты feel, tell him that. Remember, there is no need to rush. Ты can take your time to figure this out. It's one of those things that lots of us have gone through. Talk with Друзья and или family. Just be true to yourself, and you'll figure out Ты feel in time. Good luck.
It can be love. People just say their Друзья to get closer and know еще about u. Also coz they're scared incase you'll reject them. Then they tell u they Любовь u. (I been in the same situation).
