Well I'm not going to do your homework for Ты if that's what Ты were hoping, besides I read the book a few years назад so I don't remember the details; but think of it this way....

If it wasn't set in the 18th century how would that affect the story? If it took place in the future what technology could Jim have that would have changed the story (cell phones, better/faster boats, etc.). Would there even be pirates? Would Jim be еще или less willing to Присоединиться them? If it took place in the future what medical или weaponry advancements could they have that would have killed или saved some of the characters?
