I like both. They were both equally good in this role. But ... I love Kate Winslet at the actress! And she was more passionate and emotional! She is as Marriane ought to be!

I like Charity too, but I love Kate! :)

I totally agree with gabbymeg and Celina79! Kate WAS Marianne; she just played her to perfection.
However, I loved the fact that Charity made the transition Marianne takes from sensibility to sense more effectively, and performs her portrayal with grace and has a great rapport with Hatty's Elinor.

Both acted the part very well, but I think Kate Winslet seemed more amorous and impulsive. More passionate.

Kate was so perfect in this part!

She is more the way I imagined Marianne and she cries better.

Kate! Charity didn't get marianne right, for me she was too sedate. That probably wasn't her fault and was how the director wanted her to be, to not look like they were just copying the 1995 film, but she just didn't do it for me. Kate all the way :)
