Love strict, severe teachers. The type I can't cope with are those nice, soft, not-a-slave-driver kind. With Snape as a teacher, my academic will shoot up in no time (even though I'm already at the top of my class).

I don't like teacher wtho has favorite in class and let him/her do whatever he/she want. And I don't like teachers who discriminate students.

I'm quite sure I would have been terrified the first few years, later however ... I think I would have realised that he's helping us (unconciously) by being that strict ;)

I actually had a teacher with a similar look and sarcastic demeanor when I was around that age. I had a tremendous crush on him because he was so intelligent and clever with his quips, even though his looks were a bit on the unfortunate side. He never really targeted me with his sarcasm though. He usually targeted students who were more cocky and know-it-all types. I was a good student, but rather quiet and unobtrusive about it.

Snape was a cruel, bullying teacher who blatantly played favourites. I wouldn't have wanted to be on the receiving end of his belittling insults.

More no than yes I think. Most of my teachers were like Snape so he'd have fitted right in. I probably wouldn't have noticed any difference. I know I wouldn't have thought he was great, but I also wouldn't have singled him out as one not to like.

Not liked. I've had teachers like him, and I didn't like them.

But, he is the type of teacher I need. I'm a lazy student, and there's nothing like a strict teacher to get my butt in gear.

^ Same here. I did very well in subjects where my teachers were mean and strict. For some reason it made me want to prove them wrong.

Nope, I would have hated him. I'd have asked my parents to change classes

When I was 11, it would have been 7th grade here in the states. And, at that time of my life, I liked a little humor, but I liked guidance. I wanted someone who knew what they wanted and knew how to get us there. I did not like wishy washy and then haste and waste trying to get the lesson done at the end of class.
And, he voice would have enthralled me.

Yes, no matter of his way to lead the lessons :P He's brilliant!

I had to consider that a bit, but at eleven I would not have wanted him. I actually had cruel teachers and hated them. Later I have changed my mind about them and I am sure I would have fallen in love with him at the age of sixteen or even earlier. I know myself and I am not someone who is changing feelings easily.

I don't think 60% of you would be in Slytherin! :P

I was a very quiet child and used to learn things rather fast. So I wouldn't have been one of the children who have many reasons to fear him. ;)

Although it was never shown in the books or films, I also think he would be a little protective for children who are harassed by other students - because the situation reminds him of his own bullies.
Yes, I think I would have needed a teacher like him!

Only because all the internet tests say that I would be Slytherin and he was nice to Slytherins, but not to students from other houses...
