Супермен to lose red underwear in Action Comics. 

I'm sure the new Superman movie will probably reflect these changes. That along with renouncing his American citizenship seem like calculated changes that will play into the movie. Also, the lawsuit from the Siegel family determined they own the Superman costume as it appeared in the first issues. By losing the red underwear, DC effectively dodges that legal grenade.
