his heart was just shattered - he couldn't find a reason to stay alive without Sam. :(( my poor bby <3 (hence the deal) Sam used his grief for negative things .. such as fucking demons (heh. I might still be a bit bitter about S4 ;)) but he still found a reason/purpose to live.
Sam is more independent he can still go on without Dean but he ends up taking wrong and bad decisions..while Dean's heart broke after his dad died and just couldn't bare surviving and gone living after his brother was gone too!he is more a family guy,it means everything to him while Sam is more independent he can still go on without Dean but he ends up taking wrong and bad decisions..
I think they were both equally affected, just in different ways. Dean was shattered but so was Sam. He became just as self-destructive as Dean, it just didn't work out the same way. Sam tried to sacrifice himself in the same way that Dean had but was unable to and so he found a different way to destroy himself- by using his powers. He fully intended to die in his quest to kill Lilith. It's true that Dean wasn't consumed with revenge after Sam's death, but he got Sam back almost right away. If that hadn't happened, there's no telling if he would have made revenge his reason for living.
both boys where insanely affected by eachothers death.....both tried 2 sell their soul, only dean was the only one that it accually happened. but i would imagine that if he didn't sell his soul he would be a lot like the dean we met in "the end" still fighting for good but going 2 whatever ends 2 win, hollow inside.
and we saw what dean's death did 2 sam.....drinking himself 2 death then sold his soul 2 revenge and his need 2 ice lilith.
i don't think we saw enough of dean without sam, unlike with sam we got 2 see the outcome. with dean we saw his grief and guilt, we saw that with sam but not in the same way, we didn't see him right after dean was killed we saw him a few days/weeks/months down the line. but i would imagine that the hours after dean's death could have very well been a mirror image of the hours after sam's
I'm inclined to say Sam, but only because we saw what loosing Dean did to him. He turned to a substitute, Ruby, he became a harder, colder version of himself, he tried to offer himself up as well. We've also seen him go through it twice.
But also Dean I doubt would have taken it well. We never got to see what path he'd have taken if he hadn't made that deal, but I think it would be inclined to be more towards Sam's...without the darkness of demon blood, but towards the darkness of future Dean in The End.
By what I saw dean seemed more sad...but I think in general it'd be worse to lose an older brother because the older brother is usually the one that looks after the younger brother
