It's just a lazy attempt at squeezing out some extra ad revenue. I've honestly never seen a clip show of any series that I've ever enjoyed.

Friends did a clip show almost right before the finale every season, and after 10 seasons, many of the clips were repeated and they got a little redundant. I liked watching them, but still... those shows had like 8 minutes of original acting.
