Literary Analysis
Midnight Over Sanctaphrax, written by Paul Stewart, is the third book in the “Edge Chronicles” series in the Фэнтези genre. In this book, the young sky pirate Twig tries to save his father Cloudwolf from the weather vortex. Upon doing so he learns that Sanctaphrax is about to be destroyed by the mother storm. He and the crew of the sky ship Edgedancer fall from the sky and are scattered all over the edge. Twig and his new apprentice Cowlquape find all of his crew members, each in their own creepy, scary place. After this, Twig and Cowlquape return to Undertown, the city below Sanctaphrax, and cut the floating city loose, keeping the storm from stopping, and return life to the Riverrise waters saving everyone living on the Edge.
A theme in this book, unlike the other Книги in the Twig saga, is that Cowlquape discovers that his real purpose in life is to be among the Academics in the new Sanctaphrax. Although the story revolves around Twig, the main character, he meets a young apprentice who Остаться в живых his way in life. Upon traveling with Twig on his journey to find his crew, Cowlquape learns a lot about himself and where he does and doesn’t belong. One example of this is that at the end of the book, Twig tells him to follow his heart, and that he should remain the Most High Academe and build the new Sanctaphrax. This theme is also supported by the way that Cowlquape hated the way things were run at the Slave Market, and wished he was Главная in the floating city. He resented the people who took part in the slave trading, and clearly didn’t fit in.
Though I would happily recommend the “Edge Chronicles” to anyone who wanted to read a well-written and thoroughly detailed series, I would not advocate Midnight Over Sanctaphrax. I would only recommend it to people who would like hearing a Harry Potter book that was mostly about Ron, или a story about the sidekick. This book reached down into Cowlquape еще than Twig, the main character. Whenever an exciting and heart-pounding moment arose, the story would suddenly rotate around Cowlquape. For example, when Twig and his Остаться в живых crew along with Cowlquape fell down a steep холм, хилл onto a river bank, the reader reads only about Cowlquape’s pain and misery, not about the others’. Although this book was written differently, the others were pure genius, and surely deserve positive recognition.
