First ‘Mockingjay’ teaser trailer released! Snow addresses Panem with Peeta in tow

In the early hours of Wednesday (at 3:45 a.m. eastern, to be exact), the first
teaser trailer was unveiled on TheCapitol.pn and features President Snow (played by Donald Sutherland) addressing the citizens of Panem. Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) eerily stands by his side.
“Since the dark days, our great nation has known only peace. Ours is an elegant system conceived to nourish and protect,” Snow says to his people. “Your districts are the body. The Capitol is the beating heart. Your hard work feeds us, and in return we feed and protect you. If you resist assisting, or starve yourself, if you fight against it, it is you who will bleed. I know you’ll stand with me – with us – with all of us. Together as one.”
“Panem today, Panem tomorrow, Panem forever,” Snow concludes with. Peeta looks towards the camera at the very end.
. Instead, we’re watching Snow address the nation as if we’re citizens of Panem. Brilliant.
Interestingly, the YouTube thumbnail for the official video is of President Snow with pure white skin. He almost looks like a statue. Click to see it full size!
What do you think of this first ‘Mockingjay’ trailer?
While it’s not a trailer in the traditional sense, it’s certainly our first major piece of marketing material geared toward the opening of the movie. So, that’s why we’re describing it as a teaser. We still expect a traditional trailer with footage from the film to be unveiled very soon. On the latest episode of Hype, we speculated it’ll arrive at San Diego Comic-Con next month.
opens in theaters this November starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, Elizabeth Banks, and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Ridiculously perfect. Chilling, thrilling, creepy, powerful, dramatic, amazing production value. Love love love this. The team working the marketing for this movie is so smart
I got chills. I can’t wait for the trailer! Poor Peeta :( I honestly hate President Snow so much, but I also kinda love him, but maybe that’s because of Donald Sutherland.
I can’t even handle this! So many feelings!!!!
Some companies should take notes how to do promo for a movie because the one for ‘The Hunger Games’ franchise is perfect. They continue their work with this great propaganda video and I love it lol
…I’m really just feeling like this is the drawing out of my least favorite book in the trilogy (probably—in my opinion—the worst finale to a series I’ve read)
Really, Allegiant anyone? With Mockingjay, I can see how people may not like it, but some people on the opposite end of the spectrum loved the hell out of that book. However, with Allegiant, it pissed EVERYONE off, not because of the death, but because the rest of the book didn’t make any sense either. Not saying I don’t respect your opinion (I feel the same way to a certain extent), just asking for your opinion on Allegiant :)
On a more relevant note, whoa, can someone say ‘smart marketing.’ Us THG fans are so lucky because our franchise is getting the best movie treatment.
Love this. So perfectly executed and very cool if you think about what the bigger picture of the marketing will end up being! MOCKINGJAY was my favorite of the 3.
Great idea for a promo. I’m not sure I liked the whole overdone commercial style of it (it could have been more tense, the music especially imo) but the Peeta reveal was just fantastic.
Maybe it being overly done and commercial is the point? Its always been the Capitol’s trademark style (remember the first Victory Tour poster with Katniss and Peeta?) Methinks the Capitol very purposely employs that style. Plus, the point of the propo is to be influential and not tense. The Capitol is shown as someone who remains calm even through rebellion which conveys to the districts that the Capitol isn’t afraid of them.
Exactly – the point of this is that it’s something you’d see within Panem.
OH MY GOSHHH SO PERFECT. seriously SUCH a genius idea. LOVE IT. Question – do you guys think its annoying or genius that peeta never speaks?
and the new website just moved me from D4 ( since the original one ) to District 6
This should be an actual commercial on TV to promote the film.

Creepy trailer :D
Peeta does look like he's randomly daydreaming for most of it, though.
