I think they will probably put awhild between the time last season ended and the time next season starts. It will probably just start showing what happened with the job by like showing the person who got it working in the corporate office. If Ryan didn't get it then they will probably have and interview with Ryan telling who he was talking to on the phone. Then they will do an interview with Pam about her and Jim.

no time passed, no questions.... they arent going to skip the first date thats the culmination of the show basically

I'm pretty sure it'd be hard for the camera crew to follow Jim and Pam on their first date, I'm guessing they'd want to be... alone... (sniggers like Kevin lol)

So it's probably months after and Jim and Pam have been going out for a while. Or something happened and their first date never actually happened. But I'm pretty sure Fancy New (New) Beesly woouldn't let that happen.

And if Karen didn't get the job, I still doubt she'd hang around now that Jim and Pam are together. He was the reason she moved in the first place, why should she stay?

OH! It's gonna be so exciting (I'm guessing) it'll be just like Jam in season two except even better!

but...did months REALLY pass between Casino Night and Gay Witch Hunt? I mean, Pam and Roy still had TONS of food, and Phylis copy-catted Pam's wedding, so wouldn't it be in June as well? (In "Phylis' Wedding," Kelly says something like, "This was supposed to be your wedding.") hmm...

I think that they may have some time go by...like in the season premiere, they'll have pam and jim do "talking heads" of them describing how they've been casually dating...then ryan will come in like jan use to...people will do "talking heads" saying what they think about ryan getting the job....jim's hair will be longer?!?! Maybe, I'm not sure...who knows, maybe they'll have the season premiere right from where they left off in the season finale.....who knows?!?! haha

They can't bypass the first date...dunderball is right. I do however think something will happen that they won't go on the date. As much as I want them to...it just seems so unreachable ALL the time!

idk...i think they will do a flash back(you cant do a flashback in a documentary i know, its a lot easier to just say than go back to old footage and start from there) and show them on their date and karen will rush in on their date with roy, pam will be like hey roy and (weird face) karen?! jim will be like WTF MATE?!(with out the mate)and it will get akward, talking head of karen saying she started dating roy about (how ever many months ago) and that its not to get back at jim(it is secretly) roy will have talkin head saying that he is really happy to be with karen, and he will talk about his new job. jim and pam together talking head, saying how weird it is to seem them. that will prolly be most of the first episode. another part is ryan walking in like familygal said and micheal will have a extreme hate for him all of a sudden and just start pissing ryan off and it will be hilarious ryan will put him in his place with a embarrassing comment. kelly will see ryan and run at him and be like "ryan you came back for me, i knew you love me"(in high pitched kelli voice) that is how i htink season 4 will start.


future: season 5 jim and pam(jam) tie the knot.

i was a little confused about the whole time thing this season. the first two seasons, it seemed like each episode took place, like, a week a part or something.

for some reason this one seems different. am i totally off here? havent, like....months past between episodes, or am i completely off track?

anyhow, i agree there will probably be flashbacks and talking heads about the date, but time will have passed. kind of like in gay witch hunt, where there were flasbacks to the kiss, or the job, with flashbacks to beach games.

i hope nothing happens to pam and jims date.

But the conversation ties up nicely - David mentions how nice it will be to have another MBA on the team (and that's what Ryan's doing in business school) and he did say before that he wasn't serious with kelly and was waiting for an excuse, well, moving to NY is an excuse. Am I being naive? :D

The show is meant to be in real time, and so the holidays line up and all that... At the beginning of season 3, it was September... so probably the beginning of season 4 will be september as well. I think I remember Jenna Fischer discussing the beginning of season 3 on her blog back last summer.

I read something about one of the writers (I think it might have been Mindy Kaling; don't hold me to that) saying that while Season 3's premiere picked up about three months after the Season 2 finale, the Season 4 premiere will take place a couple of weeks after the events of the Season 3 finale. That's just what I heard. In any event, I can't wait to see what happens.

Yea, I think they will probably do a flashback to Pam and Jim's date. The show is really good about staying real time. My ideal season premiere would start with a talking head of Pam talking about her and Jim's first date and how they started dating, but after a few weeks she decided to end it because she felt they were better off as friends and because he was a bad kisser. Then, the camera will zoom back and Jim will be sitting beside her, looking horrified. Jim will say she has hit her head and must be hallucinating. Pam will start laughing and we'll see that Pam was just joking and the camera will zoom in on them holding hands. Awwwwww! Okay, that's my ideal season opener. All I really hope for is that they will go back to the way they were in Season 1 and 2, only instead of Pam going home every night with Roy, she'll go home with Jim :)
