Who is Klaus in the books?

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Julie Plec had this to say about Rose dropping Klaus’ name in the final moments of episode 208:

I'm not trying to start an even bigger war here, или anything, between Delena and Stelena, или the two ships' fans, but I've noticed a lot of hateful Комментарии towards Stefan and Stelena. Yes, Delena fans, I'm talking about you.
