Damon chose to save Bonnie, meaning Elena will be in a coma for however long Bonnie has left, unless they can manage to find a loophole (however, according to Kai, if anyone tries to break the spell, Bonnie and Elena will both die).

oh yeah! I was also stuck on the same thing because I haven't reached that part yet! but then I came to know that elena and bonnie somehow had a connection between them that if one lives the other don't so now damon had two choices either elena или bonnie. so then he chose bonnie to live and elena is in comma until unless bonnie dies and if they try to break the spell both of them die!
