We Любовь those moments on The Vampire Diaries that make us gasp, pause, and rewind — and Episode 2.8, “Rose,” was chock full of them. Here are the вверх 5 scenes that left us with our jaws agape this week.

5. Spot marks the X
That Grimoire sure is handy! When the Mystic Falls crew realizes they have no clue where Elena is, Bonnie suggests maybe a tracking spell will help. All she needs are two candles, a map, blood of a relative, and 5 минуты in Alaric’s history classroom. Enter Jeremy. Bon-Bon cuts the palm of his hand and E’s little bro bleeds on the page. The witch mumbles some mojo and the hemoglobin glides across to reveal where their girl is hidden. Sort of. “Bonnie, we need a еще exact location than that,” Stefan says when the blood stops in an area 300 miles away. “That’s as close as I can get,” Bonnie replies. секунды after the vampire turns away the witch’s nose starts to bleed. Uh-oh. We sense trouble ahead.

4. Where’s your head at?
It is official: Вампиры have issues with anger management. After original bloodsucker Elijah confirms that Elena is the real doppelganger deal, he turns on Trevor. A minion vamp who disobeyed Elijah once 500 years ago, Trev has been running ever since. His big oops was helping Katherine escape her fate — something that the OVs (Original Vampires) consider a major offense. So how does Elijah handle this “one last piece of business,” as he calls it? He knocks Trevor’s head clear off — with his bare hand. So much for a pardon.


3. Caroline sets the record straight
What’s one thing Ты never do to a vampire? Accuse her of being a werewolf. It’s a comical insult of the highest order. Troubled Ty learned that the hard way.

2. The brothers brawl
To save Elena’s life, bloodsucking brothers Stefan and Damon picked a fight with a vampire at least five times their age (and strength). And boy did they put on a show! There were stakes galore, running-while-shooting moves, and charges out of the dark. It was like Die Hard with fangs. Which makes us wonder: Can we be Elena for just one minute? Just one? We’d even take 30 секунды of feeling that total and utter devotion the Salvatores have for her. For reals.

1. I just called to say I сердце you
Hours after they rescued Elena from Elijah, the eldest Salvatore snuck into her room just as she was getting ready for bed. Damon claimed he wanted to return her Vervain necklace. But we’ve heard lines like that from him before. One we’ve never heard from the bad boy vamp? “I Любовь Ты Elena.” Oh, yeah. Damon сказал(-а) it. And there were tears! His! And… and…we can’t type about it anymore. Just watch.
