I think it depends on what you're trying to do.
In my case I couldn't be bothered studying for my exams, so I kept imagining what I would feel like if I failed them all, and that helped me get things done!!

Ты could promise yourself a reward, или imagine what would happen if Ты didn't do it, или Ты could just grit your teeth and get on with it!!

That's the best I can do right now!! :)
