"Oh god," groaned Luca Edgewood. He glanced at his watch,. It was already past 8am. He dropped his skateboard, got on it, and rode away down the busy streets of Brunswick.
"Be careful today!" His mother shouted at him through the screen door, but he was to far to hear her warning. Lucas's mom was very suoerstitious woman who believed in witches, ghosts other Сверхъестественное creatures. Luca thought all of this happened when his dad left.
Luca pushed back hard as he could with his right foot. He was already late. With all of his focus, he was barely able to dodge pedestrians, seeding cars, and occasionally, dogs.
Today he would meet the King family или at least the kids. Everyone was secretly terrified of them. The stories about them being witches from a secret witch society was spreading faster than the flu. His Glynn Academy classmates would have to welcome them to their classroom. The principal informed him that they would be in his class.
Of course, Luca didn't give in to all of that hype of them being witches. It was ridiculous. There is no such thing as witches. The день he gave in would be the день his mom finally cracks, или his dad comes back.
Avalon and Damon King were standing in the school office. It was Lucas's job to Показать them around the school and make them feel at home. He was the only one who volunteered for the job. He was going to prove that these were two normal teens
"You're late," stated Damon who wore thick, dark shades. It was impossible to see his eyes through the shades.
"Yeah, I'm sorry about that. My alarm clock didn't work," replied Luca as he stuck his skateboard under the principal's desk. The principal was his aunt and she didn't care whether he put there или not.
"We don't care. Just do whatever e have to do," demanded Damon.
It was awkward and hard. Damon and Avalon area not normal but they certainly were not witches. Luca couldn't see it. They were both mysterious people, but it couldn't be magical.
They toured the cafeteria, media center, the auditorium, and now it was time to see the senior classrooms.
"Did the office give Ты two your class schedules?" Luca looked between the both of them to see their reactions which was basically boredom and exhaustion.
"What do Ты think?" Damon snapped at him. Avalon stared at her brother. It was weird. Luca was bringing out something dark within Damon. It was something that astonished Avalon, but somewhere deep inside herself, she knew it was there and waiting.
"We'll, I think," interjected Avalon, "that my Далее class is psychology. Sounds . . . interesting."
"That is my Далее step. I'll Показать Ты were to go," сказал(-а) Luca.

A flash of lightening appeared outside the windows of Glynn Academy. It was lunchtime already, but Avalon and Damon didn't have much of an appetite.
"I heard that they were born from outer Космос and were sent here to destroy us," прокомментировал(-а) a blonde who was walking Далее to her buddy. They were passing Damon and Avalon as they were talking.
"Whatever it is, all I know is that they both don't belong here," replied her friends.
The winds outside were еще harsh now.
The two girls sat at a таблица close to Avalon and Damon. They were purposely trying to annoy them. Damon ignored them, but Avalon was having problems.
"Their whole family is messed up. Have Ты seen their dad?"
"The one with the cane?"
"Yep," replied the blonde. "People say the cane turns into a wand and he uses it to control people."
The rain came down faster and much harder. The entire building began to softly shake everytime Ты heard thunder. It seem to shake harder everytime. The two girl seeing appear to notice или care. No one did.
"Excuse me ladies," interrupted Luca who recently entered. The weather didn't change his mind about the Kings, but by the look of Avalon he thought that things were getting too heated. "Whatever Ты have to chat about isn't as nearly as fascinating than what happened to both of Ты in our freshman year."
"You wouldn't dare," hissed the blonde through gritted teeth.
"Try me," he tested.
The friend huffed and flipped her black hair. "I'm so happy the band kicked Ты out."
They both went to the other side where Luca's old Друзья were sitting. They all came off estatic and unnerved by the fact that they betrayed one of their own. It was miserable to stand watching from the outside in. Everyone was glad and it made him wonder if they really cared about him.
Damon's rough voice interrupted his thoughts. "We don't need your help." Avalon was staring at her lunch. He platinum blonde hair was completely covering her face. Ты couldn't even seen those striking, green eyes that always brought shivers and delight whenever he saw them.
For now, the storm had calmed a bit. There was still some rain, but the thunder and lightening had quieted down.
"Good because I wasn't asking for it," smirked Luca as he sat across from Avalon. "Sorry about your grandad."
"Great conversation starter," прокомментировал(-а) Damon.
"My aunt won't admit it, but she use to be best Друзья with him, despite the age difference. She was an apprentice of his when he was at the public library."
"Gross," moaned Damon.
"She would be volunteer at the библиотека and he would always be there. Soon she became his apprentice, in a way."
"Why are Ты telling me this," murmured Avalon with her head still down.
Truthfully, talking kept him from having to hear the laughter of his ex-best friends. He wasn't going to own up to his feelings, but he knew that was the reason. He knew they were annoyed; he wanted to stop, but he couldn't deal with the pain of betrayal.
"I honestly don't know," he lied. "Now I'm regretting it because the mental image of my aunt and your grandad just popped in my head."
Avalon suppressed a smile, "Nice of Ты to share it."
"You're welcome," chuckled Luca.
