This is the секунда book to my first short story "As the sun sets" This is a story about the life of Renesmee Carlie Cullen ( In her POV with some exceptions) now that she is a teenager!

Chapter 3: Understated


One of the guards took Elisabeth - Who was very hesitant to follow - up to her room while Jacob and I were escorted to our own.

We followed up the same staircase as I had before yet this time we made a left instead of going straight. Had they put me in a new room? I followed up the spiraling staircase hand in hand with Jacob.

" Ms. Cullen" Geoff nodded - dropping me off with a key infront of a large door. I stoped for a moment staring at it.

"Waiting for somthing?" Jacob smiled.

I hesistated "I really don't want to see it.."

He laughed lightly and carefully took the key from me, unlocking the door. Maybe it wasn't as bad as I thought - Maybe it was the same room just relocated. I took a step inside. Nope - Its exactly as bad as I thought.

The room was drowned with gold, silver, silk and satin. The furniture - Royal antiques. A finely detailed persian rug was laid out over the hardwood in the middle of the room.

On the far Стена was a door that led to a balcony much like the one I had before. I looked to my left and there laid a white silk диван, мягкий уголок with wooden mahogany trimmings.

It faced an old style fireplace that was already lit - Making the room a comfortable tempature. Beside the fireplace was a door which led to the also overly decorated bathroom.

To the right was a large постель, кровати - most likely stuffed with Золото или somthing ridiculous like that. Two topaz coloured drapes hung from each side of the bed, pulled back.

Beside it stood a large antique dresser - Along with a note from Geoff explaining that our lauguage had been put away already. The rest of the room was filled with bookcases, paintings and seemingly needless decor.

I groaned.

"Oh come on Nessie - It could be worse..." Jacob сказал(-а) in attempt to cheer me up. Although it wasn't going to work.

I wandered over to the right side of the room - There stood 2 doors. One was a swinging door - The other a smaller mahogany door , across the door was a delicate цветок pattern. I looked back at Jacob who was smiling at my frustration. I sighed.

"Your right - It could be worse.."

I didn't even want to explore the other rooms- One was overwhelming enough. I Plopped myself down on the диван, мягкий уголок Далее to were Jacob stood. A small sond f crackling from the fireplace filled the air.

"I never expected this.." Jacob started,Looking at me curiously "They treat Ты like royalty- Even when they look at you, Ты can see it in their eyes.."

I thought for a moment. I never really realised that - did they really look at me this way. I never thought of myself as that important but they do seem to treat me so.

I always knew I was highly respected - But I could now understand why. Aro has this Idea that he will be able to convince me to stay with the volturi pernamently. But he knows as long as I have my family - I would never.

Jacob wandered around the room - Looking at the different paintings. One in particular caught his attention. It was the same one that hangs in Carlisle's office - Although I doubt Jacob has seen it there before. Jacob studied it for a moment.

"Is that Carlisle?" He asked dazed.

I stood up and walked over beside him. I looked at the painting that I had seen many times before. I smiled and Nodded.

"Yes - That is Carlisle. He lived with the Volturi before he found his way of living.I guess that's why Carlise has always been еще understanding of the Volturi - He's been there."

It seemed as if the Volturi had grown from then, though. Each of them had actualy gained compassion - With the exception of Jane of course.I let my eyes scan over the faces in the old painting.

I wondered how Felix was doing - The last time I saw him I was just a small child. He had left the Volturi to go live with a Coven down in southern America - Nobody hears much of him.

Although he does visit every few months. Some say he hunted In Volterra so the Volturi Banished him but let him live. Although that's always just talk..

A small knock on the door distrupted the silence. I broke from my gaze and made my way over to the golden knob - Turning it and slowly moving the block of wood out from between my Vistor and I.

A стаут, толстый latin women stood before me. She had tanned skin - A couple shades darker then Jacobs. Her hair was folded neatly into a bun ontop of her head. The woman was dressed in what seemed like a maids outfit.

She seemed nervous although tried to hide it with a smile. Her hands shook lightly as she brought her gaze up to mine.

"Ms. Cullen?" She asked slowly. She had a latin accent that shook nervously as she spoke.

I smiled. "Yes?"

She seemed relived and I wasn't sure whether it was because I spoke english или because I wasn't a Vampire. That's even if she isn't clueless to the Vampire world..

"I'm Maria, Your.. assistant.' She сказал(-а) hesitantly.

I pondered for a moment. "Assistant?"

She bit her lip - As if she didn't want to justify her word choice.

"Well -Really i'm your maid..But someone by the name of Marcus told me the Название may upset you.."

I heard Jacob start laughing from inside the room. I glared at him , turning back to the woman.

"Maybe they know me better then I give them credit for.."

Maria held her hand out as if to give me somthing. I placed my hand under hers as a small metal key dropped into my hand. I twisted it around in my fingers for a moment - There was a pattern on it that seemed so familiar.

I realised it matched the pattern on the smaller mahogany door in the room. I looked at it then back at the woman. She smiled;

"Elisabeth's room"

I nodded once - almost relived that the room wasn't part of my own.

"Elisabeth's room .. Well is there anything else I can help Ты with?"

"No ma'am but I will be back later -"

"Renesmee" I smiled correcting her.

She nodded once smiling back "Okay, Renesmee."

I saw her walk down the long hall as I shut the door lightly. Maria seemed nice, I wonder if she has a family on her own? No, I can't get to involved with people, But maybe I could make an exception this once..

I walked towards Jacob who still wore a smirk.
"I don't think I'll ever understand you.." He laughed.

I smiled back as he tightened his arms around me pulling me into a hug. He held me there for a moment;

"Nessie your tired - Ты should take a nap."

"Actualy" I started, unwraveling myself from him. " There is a little girl I need to go check on"

He sighed - Shaking his head lightly. "Renesmee, Ты should really have time for yourself - Ты can't always take care of everyone else.."

I smiled " I can try, Can't I?"

He narrowed his eyes slightly - challenging me. I knew he just wanted me to relax, But to me that seemed unrealistic. There is no time for me to relax , Not with the state everyone is in. I have my priorites straight.

"Just a few минуты Jake.." I could tell he didn't want to budge on this one. I wondered if my trick would still work - If I beg, Jacob just can't deny me things. I don't like to manipulate him but Ты have to do what Ты have to do.

I wrapped my arms around him staring into his eyes.

"Pleeeaasse Jake" I asked quietly

" Aww - Come on Nessie.. That's not fair.." He begged. I could tell it was working..

" Just a few minutes..Pleease" I stared at him .

He was slowly caving.. I almost felt bad doing it to him..

He sighed with a defeating grimace. "A few minutes.. and don't make me come get you!" He joked

I smiled and tightened my arms into a hug. "Thanks Jake!"

He shook his head, smiling. "Ya, ya.."

I walked swiftly towards the door with the Дизайн on it. Taking out the matching key, I slipped it into the golden knob - turning it slightly. The door creaked open allowing me entrance.

The door opened up into a hallway. A long rolled out carpet covered the wooden floors, that streched out into an opening.I quietly stepped inside the small hallway closing the door behind me.

I swiftly made my way to the opening. A beam of light shining through the window lit up the room.

Much like mmine this room was overdecorated.

On the back Стена there was a small постель, кровати laid down with розовый coloured coverings. Elisabeth was tucked under the sheets breathing evenly in deep sleep.

A few bookcases were laid out around the room - along with a white couch.A Tv was placed infront of the couch, between two bookcases. Numerous paintings were hung on the wall.

I noticed a few toy Куклы lying about on the ground along with other toys. I quietly picked them up and placed them in a wooden box that sat on the right.

A large carpet covered the middle of the room - Making it snugger. I wondered how long she had been here for..

I spent a couple минуты tidying up - Fixing pillows, folding clothing. A small voice sprung up from across the room -

"H- Hello?"

I turned around meeting her horrified gaze - I must have startled her. As soon as she caught glimpse of me she seemed еще comfortable.

A big smile lit up across her face, She sprung out of постель, кровати - Running towards me. wraping her arms around my legs;

"Renesmee!"

I knelt down to her height - Brushing her blonde hair out of her face. She reminded me much of my aunt Rosalie - But Elisabeth was more.. Upbeat. Her smile slowly faded as she quickly took a step back , grabbing ahold of her throat.


I had almost forgot about her thirst.

"It hurts" She complained shyly.

I smiled lightly, taking a step back to make her feel еще comfortable. "You'll get used to it - But from now on Ты will be eating food. The less Ты drink blood - The less it will burn."

She nodded once, understanding. Although she was still very young she seemed to grasp concepts quite easily. She watched me for a moment.

Elisabeth still seemed quite confused. Nobody had probaly explained anything to her - So I guess it's up to me now.

"Why don't Ты go back to постель, кровати for a little?"

She crawled back into постель, кровати Snuggling herself against the pillows. I smiled and turned to walk out.

"Can Ты stay for a little? Pleease?"

I turned back around. She seemed so nervous to be alone. I nodded once, "Of course"

I carefully tucked her in and pulled up a chair Далее to her bed. I sat there for a moment.

"Am I a vampire?" She asked quietly after a few moments.

I met her bloodred eyes for a moment, Shaking my head. I ould see why she would be easily mistaken though..

"No, Your like me. Your what they call a Hybrid.."

"Heybride?" She asked confused

I smiled and shook my head again. "Hybrid. That means your half human, Half vampire."

She stared at me once more- I carefully placed my hand to her face trying to see what she was thinking. Then I noticed she was curious about my eyes.

"Yours wont be red for long - Soon they'll turn into your real eye colour.; But Ты have to eat food, okay?"

She nodded once agreeing.

"And when Ты get older, Ты will start to become slower and not as strong - But it's alright because we can always improve on our skills. I Guess if Ты worked hard enough Ты could gain back your speed and strength..And then in a few years Ты will stop aging."

"Is there more?" She asked - Absorbed in the information.

"Not for now" I smiled "Now, Ты have to go to sleep - I'll check on Ты in the morning. And if Ты need anything, my door is just at the end of your hallway"

She smiled, wrapping her arms around my neck to hug me. I carefully hugged her back and tucked her back into her bed.

I stood up - Closing her curtains so the light wouldn't distrupt her sleep.

"Goodnight Lissy"

"Goodnight Renesmee" She mumbled tucking herself deeper into her sheets.

I turned off her lamp and quietly walked back to my room. Shutting the door carefully behind me. I turned to Jacob who was sitting on the edge of the постель, кровати waiting anxiously for me to return.

"How is she?" Jacob asked curiously as I stepped back into our room.

"Confused, Tired, anxious - But she'll be okay. She's sleeping now"

He lightly grabbed my hand - Plling me towards him. "Now is it time to take care of you?"

I smiled - "Yes Jacob."

He placed his hand on my face, Pulling me towards him.

"Good" He smiled.

He carefully pulled me in and kissed me. This was definetly not the Italy visit I was expecting - But it sure is one I prefer.

Soon the light turned into darkness as I lay with Jacob - Slowly falling asleep. I knew now what I was taking on might be еще then I bargained for.

Not only am I teaching this young girl - But I am also her only gardian at the moment. I am her role model and everything she hopes to become.
Those are big shoes to fill - and trust me I never planned to raise a child in Italy for a few weeks. I only hope Ill be able to find her family before the Volturi take her in..
