This is a pesonal narrative I had to write for my English class. I Любовь feedback, anything Ты have to say is appreciated. Also, if I made any mistakes (i.e. spelling, grammar, punctuation), please tell me so I can fix them, thanks:D
As I was thinking of experienes that changed my life, my mind automatically went back to my time at St. Anthony. I skimmed throught the years starting with eigth grade, thinking that was where I would find a significant event since it was where I have my most Последнее memories. To my surprise, I found nothing. I moved on to younger grade levels, still finding little. Then, I came to my fourth grade year, I remember it so clearly.
Before fourth grade, I was extremely quiet, only talking when I had and I always allowed myself to fade into the background. Even when I was with my friends, I had trouble lettig loose and having fun because I was so shy. When I walked into the classroom on the first день of school, I had absolutly no idea that my experiences over the Далее год would change my outlook on life. I had no intentions to do anything significantly different, but I guess we don't always plan the best parts of our lives.
"I wonder what this new teacher is going to be like," I thought to myself. I was very curious because over the summer, my school had hired a new fourth grade teacher, his name was Mr. Snider. My class was the first to have him, so I'm sure everyone was wondering the same thing. Would he be mean and give us a truck load of homework everynight? или would he bea pushover and let us do whatever we wanted? Either way, I was about to find out.
We started the день off by Чтение aloud the "BFG," which we later learned meant "The Big Friendly Giant." It was the first of many Книги we would read over the year. Then we received all of our textbooks and learned how to play quiet ball, a game that would become our class's Избранное way to end the day.
By the time the колокол, колокольчик, белл rang that first day, I'm sure everyone was absolutely thrilled with our new techer. He believed that learning should be fun, therefore, we would play a lot of game like math ball and vocabulary races. To play math ball, Mr. Snider took a пляж, пляжный ball and wrote multiplication problems allover it. We would throw the ball up in the air and catch it, whichever problem our rght thumb landed on was the one we had to answer, and the winning team always got Конфеты as a prize. Vocabulary races were a lot like obstacle courses, we had to run to the dry erase board, jumping over chairs или havingto do a crazy dance all the way there, and spell a word before the other person.
Over the Далее few weeks we had so much fun and I was actually feeling еще comfortable. Then Mr. Snider сказал(-а) we were going to start Письмо in our journals and preseting a couple of entires in front of the class each week.
"Oh no," I thought. Me, present something I wrote in front of twenty some people?! Yeah, right. When it came time for me to read my paper about m Избранное food, I was extremely apprehensive. My knees were shaking, and I felt like crying. But after I read it ad sat back down, I realized that nobody was going to laugh или make fun of me. From then on I became less distressed each week, and sometimes i actually got excited to tell the class about my Избранное sport или one of my family traditions.
Although I was improving with speaking in front of the class, I still wasn't talking very often around Друзья and I still didn't like answering Вопросы in front of the class because I wa afraid of looking stupid. Then during lunch, two girls named Laura and Allison started to sit with me and then we would go sit on вверх of the monkey bars during recess together. Prett soon, I became exceptionally comfortable around them, and the three of us became inseparale. And with Друзья I felt comfortable around and newly found confidence with Чтение in front of the class, I was beginning to really enjoy everything about fourth grade.
During the rest of the year, we did some undoubtably fun projects. We learned about Ohio History and how a state government works, so we made our own little city. We put down roads made out of masking tape on the floor, and everyone had their own job to help keep the city running. There was a governor, police officers, and a mayor. Another girl named Megan and I were the senators, we also became great friends. We made commercials for Книги that we read in our Чтение groups, and learned about carbonation in pop and did an expeiment with that. We put pop cups and exposed it to different temperatures and different amounts of light. For interational day, we put on a play about a family in Finland, and I got to be the grandma! No matter what we were doing, I was having tons of fun and I was making tons of new friends. I was becoming mre outgoing and talkative each week.
On one of the last days of school, we each put our name on вверх of a piece f paper and passed it arond the room so everyone could write something nice about you. If we had done that at the beginning of the year, I would have gotten mostly generic Комментарии like 'Really nice' and 'Well behaved' или maybe even just 'Quiet,' but over the year, I had become Друзья with mostly everyone in the class. I went Главная that день with really nice Комментарии from my friends. But the one I remember the most was from my teacher: "The person who wouldn't talk at the beginning of the year, and wouldn't stop talking at the end."
Over the course of that year, I found Друзья in people who were just classmates before, and I learned that it's not always a good thing to be quiet all the time. And even though I'm not quite as talkative as I was back then, I definitely don't pass up the opportunity to talk to Друзья and have fun.
When I tell people this story, they say that I had itin me the whole time, but reallt, I believe it was Mr. Snider who brought the loud, fun loving person out of me with his unique ways of teaching and letting us be creative in ways that I never hd the chance to before. Who know what kind of person I would have been without the help of my fourth grade teacher, but I'm glad I never had to find out. I had some pretty amazing experiences during that year, and I'm so glad I was lucky enough to take part in it.
Thanks for reading:D
