After three weeks, the little girl had earned a place in everyone’s heart. She’d gotten her own nickname, Karma, and was proud to have it. But there was something strange about her. On week three she was taller, and a little thinner. She looked like a five год old, her hair often pulled into a single ponytail. Her green eyes were now a pretty shade of turquoise.
Kenzie rarely ever spoke, and when she did, it was often the word karma. Then she’d snap and something good или bad would happen, depending on what the person had just done. Fang had been the first example. Scarlet had been next, after turning in a walled she found on the street. Kenzie found the little things to use her powers on. It happened that the wallet Scarlet found belonged to a billionaire, and Kenzie had taken her little toll. Scarlet recieved a cash reward.
She also knew how to fly, and had a strange interest in fire. One of her Избранное pastimes was watching Mercy and Scarlet practice with their powers. When Blade and Manta showed her cold огонь and how to make it with steel wool, she rarely left the lab. Becca found her one night simply watching a candle melt. She’d taken Kenzie back to bed, then let the girl fall asleep.
Every once in awhile, Russel would come over to visit. He attached to Kenzie quickly, playing hide-and-seek and Чтение stories to her. Out of all the people, he was definitely one of her favorites.
Kenzie loved doing certain activities with every person on the team. With Mercy, she went swimming. With Connor she had piggyback rides, and didn’t have to worry about crushing his neck accidentally. With Delta she hid in the vents, watching people get tranquilized, and she loved being with Robin when he hacked the cave and played weird and annoying songs like Nyan Cat.
They loved her back. Even when the league members visited, there was a lighter air about them.
Even Бэтмен was a little kinder. Only when Kenzie was around, of course.
However, Бэтмен agreed with Robin, Delta and most of the team, she was extremely familiar. Her jet black hair wasn’t always able to stay out of her eyes. But her turquoise eyes threw them off; they’d never known someone with that eye color.
It wasn’t until the fourth week after Aisling found her that they realized who it was.
Because that week, the огонь on the rose died off.
