He's perfect. He's so wholesome and pure that when he comes unhinged it's like no one else. He has depths that no other director ever took him to.

Overall, because I love him in all the Hitchcock movies, but for single best performance in one of the movies I'd go with Anthony Perkins.

I am a huge fan of Jimmy, he's brilliant!
I also liked Anthony Perkins in Psycho (naturally) but Jimmy has been in so many great Hitchcock films!! I had to pick him! :D

I had a difficult time choosing between Stewart and Grant--both are such great Hitchcock leading men!

Richard Hannay (The 39 Steps) is, in my opinion, the best Hitchcock hero of all time. So clever, funny, and resourceful! Simply the best! :D Closely followed by Robert Tisdall (Young and Innocent) and Maxim de Winter (Rebecca).

Wildrosehips picked Anthony Perkins (Psycho):
Anthony made the best suspense villian in Hitchcock's films. No one holds a candle to him. Seems most of the choices are "hero's".
My choice would be either Robert Donat or even Robert Tisdall as a hero. I am more fond of Hitchcock's older films, for his status of Master of Suspense lends itself directly to his use of color to make his Black & White films. The exception would be Marnie because of the 'red', but that didn't make Sean Connery anything exceptional.

Hands down. He had a subtlety and adaptability none could match that fit Hitch's films perfectly.

He was very talented and he had an attractive appearance. But I like Stewart's and Grant's film too.

It was very close between Tony and James, but I decided to go with Anthony Perkins because despite how charming he may seem at the beginning of the film, Norman Bates is pretty creepy.....
