Brooke and Peyton met in kindergarten. The big yellow bus was crowded with screaming children, jumping around and flailing their limbs everywhere. Peyton sat quietly by herself that morning, staring blankly out the window. She was worried about her alphabet worksheet in a way most kindergarteners didn’t even know existed.
