Buffy the Vampire Slayer getting new book series from Simon Pulse

EW can exclusively reveal that Simon & Schuster’s teen division, Simon Pulse, will publish a new spinoff series of the cult classic television show that will be written by

bestselling author Kiersten White. The series, which will be published in the fall of 2018, will be titled

and will feature a brand new slayer from the group of potentials that Willow used her Wicca skills to awaken in the show’s final episode.

The author of the upcoming books is no stranger to teen literature having penned the

 “I’ll be honest: when I got the offer to write Slayer, I totally screamed,” she tells EW. “It scared my children. I’m not sorry.”

20th anniversary of the show’s premiere on March 10, it couldn’t be a better time to feed hungry fans. Simon Pulse is familiar with the demographic, having previously published series of authorized

during the show’s original run. On October 3, Simon Pulse is also set to release 

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Twenty Years of Slaying

, a special hardcover collector’s edition that highlights all the best content from Volumes 1–3 of the original

, as well as exclusive new content, including never-before-seen interviews with the cast and crew.
