It’s a tough market out there for a prospective Disney sidekick seeking employment—we get that. To help you more effectively turn your life into a Disney movie, here are nine ways you can pad your resume and catch the eye of the hero or heroine whose heart you cherish.

1. It will really help your case if you can brand yourself as being a part of a dynamic duo.

We don’t want to live in a world where the word “Timon” isn’t immediately followed by “and Pumbaa.” If you can hitch your wagon to a similarly iconic friendship, you’ll double your stock as a potential sidekick.

2. You and your sidekick should also see if you can get in the groove of a friendly bickering type of dynamic.

Your incongruent personalities will add antics to all proceedings, guaranteeing you a spot in the hero’s close circle whenever a big plot point is happening.

Your short-term memory loss and unexplained ability to speak whale make you who you are, and if displaying those quirks makes you immediately lovable and relatable to all audiences everywhere, then you’re just going to have to live with that.

4. Feel free to be travel size for your hero(ine)’s convenience.

Don’t worry about trying to be big and tough. When you’re a sidekick, your primary assets are your loyalty, your bravery, and your wits—none of which are traits that require you to lift.
